Can't get message from OpenHab to MySensor



  • I have spent a week at this point trying to get a switch item in OpenHab to turn on an LED in a MySensor. But try as I might no little red light ever turns on and no serial output ever appears which would indicate successful callback. Any help would be appreciated as I don't think my keyboard can take much more head pounding.

    OpenHab 1.8 running on RPi (Jessie)

  • @Eric-Buhring what do you use for gateway?
    Is it arduino + Ethernet + rf24?
    Try with mqttclient scetch for gw.
    Than setup mqtt server on your network (install mosquitto on controller).

    Yep, exactly. Genuine Arduino Uno, Gikfun Ethernet Shield W5100, and Addicore nRF24L01

    Yes, I understand that is my next choice if this fails. But it bugs me that I can't get this to work. I did make a feeble attempt down this path and couldn't get the mqttclient to compile. Blown reference to mysensor function.

    I decided to give up being stubborn and took your advice. Downloaded latest MySensors 2.0 and used GatewayW5100MQTTClient sketch from examples. Compiled first time. Radio initialized as wired. Set up mosquitto on RPi. Started watching messages on phone app and two hours later all is working as expected. Never been so happy to see an LED turn on. Now I can get back to building fun stuff.

  • @Eric-Buhring great to hear that you managed to get it working. I have used solution like this (arduino+eth. shield+rf24) for some time.
    Now I have switched to esp8266+rf24(version with antenna) as a gateway, it is a cool (and smaller) solution
