Thanks again @Dwalt! I deleted the device and re-added it and then the same settings page for serial port configuration finally had some info I can edit! Just posting this so others might learn from it.
Now to try to re-include the smart outlet...Wish me luck.

RE: Serial Gateway stopped working, SmartOutlet issues
@benalsop ok never mind!! After trying the inclusion process about 8 more times it finally found the relay! Now both are included and it all works, whew, a little buggy but I'll take it as long as it continues to function...

RE: MYSensors inclusion not working
Thanks for the advice. I ended up troubleshooting my wiring and figured out the problem. I was getting 3.3V on the nano pin but the wire to the radio was only at 1.1V. A little resolder at the 3.3V pin fixed the issue, must have been a loose connection. The LEDs immediately lit up and the inclusion process worked perfectly, so I am back up and running! Time for my next project...

MYSensors inclusion not working
Hi all,
I had my serial gw and smart outlet working fine for the last month or so (my first projects) and I decided to solder my gw together so it would be permanent rather than loosely wired with jumpers. I also included the LEDs on PINs 4-6 that had not been there before but basically the setup is exactly the same as I had before. I uploaded the new serial gw sketch with the only difference being I uncommented the LED part in myconfig.h first. I also deleted my MySensors plugin and smart outlet devices in Vera thinking I would start fresh with the whole network (my experience is Vera doesn't like updates to devices and its just best to redo it all). I reinstalled the MySensors plugin (the gw) and it seemed to take just fine (and yes I reset the serial port configuration). However, when I try the inclusion process it seems like nothing is happening. Both 'start' and 'stop' buttons are grayed out unless you hover over them which causes them to turn green, which seems correct, but if you click on 'start' nothing seems to happen. As soon as you move the mouse off it goes back to gray and there is no indication that anything is happening. I don't recall exactly what is supposed to happen but I thought I recalled some sort of indication that it is looking for a device or at the very least after a certain amount of time without finding anything it would stop looking and give you some sort of indication that it had stopped, but I get nothing. Anybody have any idea why this would be and what I can do to try to get the inclusion process up and running again?
Thanks much!

RE: Serial Gateway stopped working, SmartOutlet issues
UGH!! Same problem with my smart outlet after all this crap. After trying to include it, the vera/gw finds the arduino node but not the relay, whereas yesterday it was the other way around (but at least it worked!). Anybody have thoughts on why my relay is not discoverable anymore but the node is???

RE: Serial Gateway stopped working, SmartOutlet issues
Thanks for the info but as a newbie it is not enough for me :-). This is the only place I see that looks appropriate but I don't see where I can edit any settings.
Is there a link that has more detail on where to go and what the setting should be? Should I just delete the gateway device and try to re-load it? -
Serial Gateway stopped working, SmartOutlet issues
Hi all,
My serial gateway suddenly stopped working. There was a Vera firmware update today so wondering if that had something to do with it (I have VeraEdge). I am also in process of trying to install a new Smart Outlet I just built (Following Pete Will design to a tee). I installed it yesterday and there was only one device found (the relay) but I didn't realize that it hadn't found the node as well. It worked but was a little buggy (would not work from the main dashboard switch but if I clicked on the device the on/off switches on that page worked perfectly. I tried to solve that problem today by deleting the device and reincluding it (which is when the firmware update hit me). When I did the inclusion it only found the node (which is when I realized it should have found both devices - node and relay). Not having the relay device made it non-functional of course so I tried to do the process all over again and to my chagrin it would not find anything. In a last ditch effort I figured I'd power cycle the Vera but unplugging and plugging it back in. That's when my MySensors plugin/serial gateway stopped working. I get this message:
Thoughts on any of this? I'm a newbie so too many things going on at once for me to troubleshoot.
Any help is much appreciated.

RE: SmartThings comes out. How about a MySensors integration ?
Ever get this working? I was thinking of buying a smartthing and want to know if it will be compatible with Mysensors?

Smartthings + Mysensors
I can't seem to find info on whether this is a good combination or not. I'm new to automation and have just spent several days reviewing all sorts of information on platforms. Since I am just getting started I'm not committed to anything. I really like the DIY aspect of it so really like the Mysensors approach to creating the automation devices but for the controller I figured I'd buy something developed for that purpose. From my research it seems the Vera and smartthings would be the way to go, but I'm not sure which is best (for me). I see a lot here on Vera obviously, but not a lot on smartthings. Vera seems like it would be fine, but at the same time it seems like it is less user friendly (less mainstream?) than smartthings for the future so I lean that way (integration with voice commands from the Amazon echo seems like a big mainstream bonus for example). I am also a big mac user so I wonder if I would want to ultimately command via Siri, which would take me to HomeKit, which is another beast altogether and doesn't seem up to par at this point, so I'll leave that out of this discussion I suppose. Anyway, I guess my main question is whether there are issues with using mysensors with the smartthings hub? Is there a plugin that is fairly straightforward to make them "play well" together? I've seen some other threads on this forum but couldn't find a direct answer to that question. Please feel free to also give advice/opinions on my situation in general, particularly on the way you would proceed if you had the blank slate that I currently have! Much thanks in advance.
