Hijack a motion detector - hardware?

Hi!

I have a motion detected lamp in the garden.
I want to hijack the motion detector and connect it to my network.

What hardware can i use to connect and read if there is motion?

I guess its some sort of current sensor, because i cant direct connect it to Arduino since voltage is to high.

Yea, but i guess it will register motion during daytime?

You can use an optocoupler, I have done so to read an 12V signal from my alarm system. Check CNY17 for example.
