A year has passed. Has anyone seen any development on this website or the mysensors library? Perhaps the purchase through CodeGarage was only necessary for its potential use in a commercial project?

Look, it's true there haven't been many developments, but it's also true that this is a very complete project and at the same time very simple to learn and manage!!
With MySensors, as it stands, you can already do anything. The only limit is your imagination!!
There's really very little that can be further developed... And I don't think other projects allow for the customizations you can do here.

I tend to agree with @sindrome73 in that MySensors is pretty awesome as it is. Recently in the Home Assistant forum there was a discussion on adding an Arduino to an ESP device to get more I/O. Convoluted, arcane scripts were presented for various classes of sensors. I noted that once the MySensors environment is set up, adding a new sensor is very simple: read sensor, send data

But there are new and more capable devices than the Arduino and nRF24 radio. Development should be seriously considered into incorporating more of these devices.

Also, I see a trend that people new to DiY/IoT expect everything to work out-of-the-box. The corporate interests have seized upon this trend, offering devices that are easy to connect but have the ulterior motive of collecting data on the consumer, which is way more profitable than just selling the product.

It really comes down to us, the grass roots people, to support any and all comers to MySensors. Personally, I am not an expert, and not being one, I try to research challenges and present possible solutions from that research. I learn a lot doing thins. The more people we have coming here, the better it will be. Maybe we can pique the interest of some very clever, inspired innovator to join us.

@OldSurferDude I had a few issues with a combo gateway to use nrf24 and rfm69 radios. Then saw that the code was very stagnant, and didn't want to commit to basically being my own support if issues arose in the future. I still have a few pieces lying around, but haven't been very active in using them.

I still keep hoping that it gets picked back up, but don't really expect it now. I forgot what it was, but there was at least one thing, and it feels like maybe 2 or 3 that were only available in the dev branch, and weren't really fully functional yet that I was waiting to get finished and released. I was disappointed. I still have the hardware, but it's just sitting in various boxes now.

I use ESPhome now for a similar use-case to mysensors. I'm not crazy about their yaml style "programming" that has its own rules and special cases that I haven't really wrapped my brain around. But for at least one of my projects it's really required to use it, so learning more is on my list, but so far never had the time for it.

STM32 Core support was added to the dev branch this year. That adds a bunch of processors that can be used with MySensors. It also looks like @tekka is working on a 2.4.0 release. I see some updates from him in the dev branch.

@nagelc wow, you're right! Last time I had bothered looking, it had been multiple years I think since the last commit.

Thanks for saying something - I had no clue!
