    • Tilt-up garage door clearance sensor

      Hello,

I have a tilt-up garage door, and I would like to automate it. However since it is a tilt-up door, in order to close/open I need to make sure nobody/nothing in the way.

I have a thought of using ultrasound sensors, infrared sensors. The main question is how to cover the area in which an object can block the door ?

The main concern is the safety. I dont want to hit a child or damage a car which is in the way of the door.

Any ideas are more than welcome.

      Thanks in advance

    • Battery powered outdoor sensor drops connection in cold weather

      Hi,

I have a battery powered sensor to measure and report the outside temp and hum, utilizing a pro mini 3.3, powered fro step up booster, nRF24L01+ directly from battery + battery voltage sensing resistor pair plus the DTH22.

I have noticed that when the battery is around 2.6V (2x AA ~ 50% bettery 1.9-3.3) then under 4°C the sensor lost the connection to the gateway. However bringing inside after a few minutes the node come back, and the voltage jumps to 75-78%.

Any of you experienced similar behavior ? Is this expected ? How can I insulate efficiently the batteries ?

Many thanks any comment, advice in advance

    • RE: 💬 Door, Window and Push-button Sensor

      Hi Everyone
Be carefull a newby here... 🙂

I have ordered all the parts for my sensor network. My plan is to have battery powered sensor sensing the following: Door/window status AND temp/humidity. Doing all this in a low power fashion.

My question is: Would these code in the build section be easily combined (dooe switch and temp/hum) in a way that it measures the temp/hum regurarly (every 15-30 min) and if during the sleep a door event happens it sends the door event to the gateway (and probably since we are awake do a temp/hum measurement as well)?

Every piece of direction, advice is appreciated.
