Simplest Free Windows based controller

Just getting started and wanted to get some input on what the simplest windows based controller would be. I plan on using a small windows 8 laptop with touch screen that we do not use anymore to host the controller. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I started using MySensors one week ago.
I installed Domoticz on my Windows 10.
It is working perfect.
