rgb led for the kids

I have a small minecraft cube that i built for the kids awhile back. I am looking to do an upgrade. Wondering if anyone has done any projects with neopixel style leds with patterns. I mean it is for the kids, so the patterns would be really cool :)

My plan is to create a sitemap specifically for the kids so they can change the colors, set patterns, brightness whatever they want. But since it's mysensors, i can also have it switch to nightlight mode at a certain time and change color in the morning when they are allowed to come out of their room.

Any neopixel/mysensors projects out there? :)
