good step up/down regulator for battery-powered sensors (3.3v)?
-
Hi,
i searched a lot and read a lot about step-up and step-down converters in the last days, but i didnt find a really "good one" - and already soldered on pcb. Soldering is in general not a problem for me, except smd (i hate smd soldering). Has anyone a hint for a good booster (2xAA => 3.3V) or a step-down-regulator (3xAA => 3.3V) ?
Greetings
Andreas

For step-down, i think MCP1702 is a verry good candidate.

Looks interesting in TO92 standard...just saw the smd-version of it.
And what would be a good stepup-converter?

If I recall correctly, the step up module from Ebay (I think it is in the store?) ended up being pretty good after all. Someone on the forum tested it long term I think.
I picked Linear LTC3525 and Texas Instruments TPS61221 for my temporary modules.

Perhaps you were referring to my tests in this thread.

With a better code (eg remove all unecessary battery level updates), my test nodes performance should be much better, but still, I can't see any quiescent current issues with the china/ebay step-ups that I have. I suppose my early measurement of <100uA is about correct.
