Soldered one:

• range is bad with the breakout board (like, 2cm...)
• range is a bit disappointing with SMD TTP223N at around 10cm: enough to detect proximity through objects but not enough for all applications I planned. I'll make more tests (could be a bit better powered on battery with no wire behind the electrode) but I'll probably have to improve the electrode shape in a new revision.
