Is it possible to turn 5v pro mini into unregulated for low power use?
-
Hi,
I have a pro mini that I ordered by accident; a 5v version. Is it possible to remove the regulator (either temporarily or permanently) so that I could power it from 2x 1.5v NIMH batteries, for low power uses?

hi,
look at the store

The mcu is clocked at 16MHz on the 5V version and is not rated for 3.3V at that speed (see the datasheet). You could change the chrystal or change the fuses to run on the internal oscillator.
I'm not sure if there are any other obstacles.
If you want a challenge, you've got one
I would just order an 3.3V Arduino and save the 5V for another project.
