I am interested in developing a sensor that can efficiently detect maize seeds passing in front of it. The sensor has to count about 1000 seeds per minute. The effective area through which seeds will pass is about 13 mm in width and 30 mm in length. Can anyone please give me suggestions about possible components that i require to cover entire area and count seeds efficiently. Any help to get me started is highly appreciated.

@usmanqadir91 I'd try a computer vision solution; camera + software to analyze e.g. 1 image/sec should be doable.

http://i-xeed.com/project/ds1000i-seed-sensor/ that is doing what you want I guess, since you are looking at rates much higher than 1 seed per second

@gohan said in Seed Detection Sensor:

rates much higher than 1 seed per second

Who is talking about 1 per second?
One camera frame could easily capture many seeds in its field of view, and thus report much more seeds than 1/sec

@Yveaux but how would you know if the seeds have moved? :)
