Reliability of Serial vs. Ethernet GW on Vera

I've been using Ethernet GW with VeraPlus which has been working OK, but recently I've been wondering if I should switch to Serial GW. I'm thinking a Serial GW via USB on Vera may be more reliable since it doesn't need to go through a home network router. I had a few occasions when MySensors based node didn't work because the router was down. Any thoughts?

@elsereno I would investigate why the router goes down and fix that, unless your GW is the only thing using that router...
