MySensors Library for Energia (MSP430 Launchpad) ?

  • Hi,

Will there be chance that an Energia compatible MySensors library will be released?
The thing is, that MSP430 have really good low power performance.
I love Arduino!! Thats only a question 😉

I haven't played with the Arm family. If someone is interested in porting it should be easier in the development-branch where the HW specifics has been moved out of the core library.

  • @hek MSP430 is not in ARM family. MSP432 is ARM 🙂

I'm looking for MSP430-based MySensors library too.

  • Hi,

i have played arround with the mysensors library on the MSP430 Launchpads.

First - it is possible, but:

    • Only as SensorNode and not as gateway
    • at least 8KB of Flash - the library needs 7KB without any serial port stuff
so there is a little space left for the core sensor handling

becaus of the flash requirenment there are 2 main ”c left:
    MSP430G2452 with 8KB Flash
    MSP430G2553 with 16KB Flash

At the moment my Sensornode is running an the MSP430G2553 because of the serial debugging.
I was able to compile for G2452 but havenÂŽt tried yet.

A little bit of mofification in the mysensors code was necessary, but nothing heavy.

i can share it, but its a rellay "hacked" at the moment - not really well done (no defines, macros, ....)

    pcs

  • @pcs I have MSP430 Launchpads with MSP430G2553, MSP430G2452, MSP430F5529 MCUs. Last one with 128KB Flash and 8KB RAM.

It would be great if you can upload source code (GitHub or something like GitHub).

  • i have put my code on github.

    have a look at
    https://github.com/pcsquirrel/mysensors_msp430

    and see Readme for details.

    P.S. MSP430G2452 is not supported

    PCS

  • @pcs thank you very much! I have cloned repo and I'll try to compile source closer to weekend.
