Raspberry gateway: small range
i was finally able to set up the gateway and some Sensebender Micro. But as i moved the nodes to different rooms i noticed that the gateway has very poor coverage
i used a Raspberry (1) with these components:
The Sensebender Micro is equipped with only NRF24L01 Radio.
What could i do to improve the gateways range? would NRF24L01 modules with antennas (f.e.: these) perform better or should i go with RFM69?
Looks like you got the cheap 'fake' NRF24's.
Indeed, get a PA LNA version. But get a shielded version.
For your nodes, get the red eByte modules, for example. They are more expensive, but they work great.
You may also want to check out the "Nano Wireless Board".
thanks @alowhum !
so i'll just need 1 (one) like this for my gateway http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/c4CU7enO ?
could you post (pm) me an example for a "red eByte module" (your link for "nano wireless board" leads to searchpage for "nrf24l01 ebyte" - but they are all green...)? i usually have to wait ~60 days until i get my aliexpress orderer items, so i really would like to get the "right one" with my first order...
and what's up with the nano wireless board?
Do a search on the forum and you'll find threads about the ebyte modules.
the Nano Wireless Board does the same thing your stabiliser board does, but also makes it much easier to connect things together. I swear by them.
so i took a good look but mostly i found your recommendation for the ebyte modules.
are we talking about this one? https://it.aliexpress.com/item/CDEBYTE-2PCS-Lot-E01-ML01D-Wireless-Transceiver-For-Arduino-nRF24L01-2-4GHz-Antenna-Module-For-Microcontroll/32803704874.html?aff_platform=aaf&cpt=1542663609771&sk=cMM8rUbm&aff_trace_key=1fc52e06d7a94d0096aabebefb8bb607-1542663609771-06798-cMM8rUbm&terminal_id=f538d8e92d1f481098e725b32d788ce6
i won't need a stabiliser for the Sensebender Micro board, right? on every build i found a radio connected directly mounted on the board...
Sorry for the bis confusion...
That's the correct module, yes.
I don't know the answer to your question about the sensebender device.

I changed all my radios to rfm68 exactly because poor range.probably you are on middle of a 2.4ghz signal war. Take a look on your wifi neighborhood.probably there's a lot of 2.4 signal already ,masking you small nrf24 signal.... And then all ebay ones are fake... Just make a try with 2 rfm69w and you never touch an nrf24 again.
