Did you mean to have all the sensor nodes running on ESP8266 and the whole system communicate via WiFi with the gateway?

Any idea to use mobile phone as a gateway. We completely have WiFi, Bluetooth, display and powering system on the mobile phone. Maybe we could have a gateway app to connect sensors with the technology. There are a lot of mobiles ready for up-cycling.
