W5100 Ethernet module PoE
-
Hello everyone !
I'm trying to supply power to my project using this breakout board (W5100) and a PoE injector.
The board have PoE+ and PoE- pin directly connected on ethernet pin 8 and 7 but when I provide power through the ethernet cable, there isn't any power on PoE+ and PoE-.
Probably I'm doing something wrong...
Can someone give me a little help ?
Thanks a lot !

Nobody ?

Are 7 and 8 not both gnd?
-
In standard PoE yes, but I'm trying everything here and I can't get current on those pin.
I'v tried V+ on pin 8 and V- on pin 7, V+ on pin 4, 5, V- to pin 7, 8 and still nothing...this guy : http://hazymat.co.uk/2015/01/home-automation-poe-with-arduino-in-praise-of-diy-poe/ had the same issue...
Is it possible that this ethernet breakout has "fake" PoE label ?
-
This module doesn't seem to have a 48v dc/dc converter. At least from the picture I do not recognize it.
Allso I don't see in the description that it have power over ethernet.

There isn't any DC/DC converter, but there is 2 pin dedicated to PoE according to the labels on the PCB

Did you have any luck on solving this?

Hi, ive had the same Problem...
According to the datasheet from the rj45 port, poe is not possible in this circuitry.

To close this topic : this particular module doesn't have anything close to PoE (passive nor active)
The PoE labels on the board are Fake or leftover.

Hi, sorry for the delay, I had just read your post and I could said "me too"
But I solved the problem and it works for two years now.
I explain my solution here, if the French don't afraid you.

I resume, a 7.5volts power supply, a passive injector, and a spécial home-made cable to bypass the RJ45 socket. The 7.5 v go to Vin-Gnd of the Nano to produce 5v wich is returned to the W5100. QED.Rpx.
