plastics identifying sensor

hi there! I like to develop a sensor which only detects plastics. I came to know about capacitive proximity sensors, but I am not sure it will work for detecting only plastics. need your help... thanks in advance!!!

Never heard of such a thing.
Photo detectors could be used to sense the presence of opaque or reflective plastics. There's also colour detectors that could be used if the plastic material have a specific colour. But I guess you would see a few false positives.
