Just started my project of monitoring the water level in our water tank. I have bought that waterproof sensor from the hardware guide but it only reports around 2 meters in testing.

Problem is that i have about 8 meters down to the water level so i either need to lengthen the cable to the sensor by about 6-7 meters down the hole or find another sensor to do the job.

Any idea? this will not be battery powered so no issues there.

This is a cool long range sensor... https://www.parallax.com/product/28043

A bit over my play budget though.

@meanmrgreen I have used one from MaxBotix in a driveway sensor. They are very stable and will reach the range you want but are expensive compared to the cheap Chinese ones. As you say the extension cord may be the best way

I have found a pretty good mix in terms of distance / price / power consumption / hard conditions support. Here it is:

No, I did not have the opportunity to test such a range. But between 20cm and 5m it was stable and accurate.
