Have you found an inexpensive source for the Atmega 328p-mu? So far, the cheapest I've found is:

@berkseo Thanks! I just ordered it to test how easy/hard it is to solder. If I can manage that, then I may switch over to it.

0.45mm pitch, it will be a pain to hand solder and the big ground pad at the bottom is out of reach, get a stencil.

It is not difficult. A solder paste and a solder dryer will help you. The chip is fixed on the board with a clip, so that it does not blow away. I soldered the chip for a self-made board. It was hard to do the tracks. On a good industrial board, it will simply be a pleasure to solder. :)
