It's a rubidium atomic clock that drifts up to 1.5usec per day:

Using a sync pulse from a GPS is, I suppose, more practical for most things we'd even contemplate doing, and certainly much cheaper.
Anyhow, $555 is the asking price at Digikey, though it's not something they stock.
