How to send a PM?

I can't seem to find how to send a private message to a member on here. How is it done?

@skywatch just start a chat with a member. Press the 'text balloon' top-right of the screen, then see all chats.
Or search for a user (the little man in the top row), press the blue circle with 3 dots and select Start new chat with ...

@yveaux Thank you - I always thought of 'chat' as a live session (when both parties were online chatting) and PM as a private email type communication. That was confusing me!
