so i took a good look but mostly i found your recommendation for the ebyte modules.
are we talking about this one? https://it.aliexpress.com/item/CDEBYTE-2PCS-Lot-E01-ML01D-Wireless-Transceiver-For-Arduino-nRF24L01-2-4GHz-Antenna-Module-For-Microcontroll/32803704874.html?aff_platform=aaf&cpt=1542663609771&sk=cMM8rUbm&aff_trace_key=1fc52e06d7a94d0096aabebefb8bb607-1542663609771-06798-cMM8rUbm&terminal_id=f538d8e92d1f481098e725b32d788ce6

      cd-ebyte?
i won't need a stabiliser for the Sensebender Micro board, right? on every build i found a radio connected directly mounted on the board...

      Sorry for the bis confusion...

      thanks @alowhum !
so i'll just need 1 (one) like this for my gateway http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/c4CU7enO ?
could you post (pm) me an example for a "red eByte module" (your link for "nano wireless board" leads to searchpage for "nrf24l01 ebyte" - but they are all green...)? i usually have to wait ~60 days until i get my aliexpress orderer items, so i really would like to get the "right one" with my first order...

and what's up with the nano wireless board?

    • Raspberry gateway: small range

      Hello!
i was finally able to set up the gateway and some Sensebender Micro. But as i moved the nodes to different rooms i noticed that the gateway has very poor coverage 😞
i used a Raspberry (1) with these components:
      https://it.gearbest.com/transmitters-receivers-module/pp_453011.html
      https://www.amazon.it/dp/B016BAPC0K/ref=pe_386201_41597321_TE_item

The Sensebender Micro is equipped with only NRF24L01 Radio.

What could i do to improve the gateways range? would NRF24L01 modules with antennas (f.e.: these) perform better or should i go with RFM69?

      cheers!
      Peter

      Hello!
I just tried to set up a raspberry gateway according to this https://www.mysensors.org/build/raspberry .
(on raspberry1). everything went smooth, but somehow it's not working:

      pi@MysensorPi:~/MySensors $ ./configure --my-gateway=mqtt --my-controller-ip-address=127.0.0.1 --my-mqtt-publish-topic-prefix=mysensors-out --my-mqtt-subscribe-topic-prefix=mysensors-in --my-mqtt-client-id=mygateway1

      Nov 10 22:35:30 DEBUG TSM:FAIL:DIS
      Nov 10 22:35:30 DEBUG TSF:TDI:TSL

so now on i should ask here 😃
i used one of these radios (recomendation from @gohan in 2017 :)): https://gearbest.com/transmitters-receivers-module/pp_453011.html and connected it accordingly (except i used 5v pin for VCC)
first of all i don't understand why it's not working when there were just top c&p a few lines?

an then i'm not really sure in general what i need to do. what i WANT to do:
sensors > raspberry pi gateway > openhab controller
mosquitto is running on my openhab installation, so mqtt would be ok. i searched for a while, but i couldn't find anything noob-proved...

      should i provide another log?

i didn't use any capacitors, neither gateway, nor node.
      here isn't anything regarding capacitors.
and [here](lhttps://www.mysensors.org/build/raspberry under section "NRF24L01+ Radio" it only says "If you are using the nrf24 PA/LNA version you need to use a 5V->3.3V regulator.", but i'm using these so i thought it's ok without using regulators.
or is a regulator something different than a capacitor?

no - but i can try!
      i'll just have to run

      make

      and

      sudo make install

      again, right?

    • [SOLVED] OH2 - Mosquito - Raspi Mysensors Gateway

      Hello!
While i'm waiting for my hardware (ordered a couple Sensebender Micro) i tried to set up Controller and Gateway.
I followed the instructions from here here and configured with

      ./configure --my-gateway=mqtt --my-controller-ip-address=192.168.178.160 --my-mqtt-publish-topic-prefix=mysensors-out --my-mqtt-subscribe-topic-prefix=mysensors-in --my-mqtt-client-id=mygateway1

But the Gateway doesn't connect to the controller:

      pi@raspgateway:~/MySensors $ sudo mysgw -d
      mysgw: Starting gateway...
      mysgw: Protocol version - 2.1.1
      mysgw: MCO:BGN:INIT GW,CP=RNNG---,VER=2.1.1
      mysgw: TSF:LRT:OK
      mysgw: TSM:INIT
      mysgw: TSF:WUR:MS=0
      mysgw: TSM:INIT:TSP OK
      mysgw: TSM:INIT:GW MODE
      mysgw: TSM:READY:ID=0,PAR=0,DIS=0
      mysgw: MCO:REG:NOT NEEDED
mysgw: Listening for connections on 0.0.0.0:5003
      mysgw: MCO:BGN:STP
      mysgw: MCO:BGN:INIT OK,TSP=1
      ...

      Then nothing more follows...

On openhabian (Raspberry) i installed the MQTT Binding (via OH2 paperUI) and Mosquitto (via openhabian config tool).
      What am i missing? 😕

      Thanks in advance!

    • RE: 433 Mhz Sender / Transmitter

your link to "this article" seems to be broken?
Opening the gate's hardware isn't really a option, BUT! there is the possibilty to give a open/close command via "potential free contact" (atleast my gate-guy says so 😶 ).
there are 2 inputs, 1 for "open", 1 for "close". Would it be easier to control the gate with those contacts?

yeah that's what i meant with "right part" - troubleshooting sounded best-suited for "noob-section" 😃
if a mod is reading this please feeld free to move this thread to... where it fits best 😃
I'm not sure what you mean with transforming my gate to be a MySensor node... (challenge for me means a lot of explaining to somebody out there, too)
I found some specs for the gate receiver:

      Would this help?

    • 433 Mhz Sender / Transmitter

      Hello!
I'm new here (also new to the whole MySensors-world) and i hope i'm in the right part of the forum 😃
I've already (tried to?) build a Raspberry Gateway but since i'm still waiting for my microbenders i couldn't test it out yet!
Hoping that i can figure out all this arduino thing i would like to build a sensor that can control my gate via 433 Mhz.
Is this for "advanced users" or do you think a noob like you could to this (with maybe a lot of help)?

Anyway, i'm excited to add a few sensors to my openHab home automation!
