how to see dashboard
-
I followed the download instuctions and double clicked start.bat. how do I get to the dash board?
-
http://ipofserver:port , the port is specified in the config file and if https is enabled in the same file you need to use https instead of http

got it I didn't realise this laptop didn't have java. now on to setting up a esp8266 as a gateway.
-
If you want to use esp8266 as nodes, there are also some alternative firmwares like espurna, espeasy or tasmota (pretty much the same as espurna), while you can show data on the node-red dashboard connecting with mqtt
