First sensor having radio issues
-
Hi Folks,
I've finally got my gateway up and running (MQTT Client Gateway with a Ethernet Shield on an Uno) - and today I tried adding a temp sensor.
The temp sensor is reporting this:
send: 255-255-255-255 s=255,c=3,t=7,pt=0,l=0,st=fail:
req node id
send: 255-255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0,st=fail:
sensor started, id 255
req node id
send: 255-255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0,st=fail:
req node id
send: 255-255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0,st=fail:
req node id
send: 255-255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0,st=fail:and the Gateway is reporting this:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-255 s=255,c=3,t=7,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;send: 0-0-255-255 s=255,c=3,t=8,pt=1,l=1,st=fail:0
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-0 s=255,c=3,t=3,pt=0,l=0:
0;0;3;0;9;read: 255-255-255 s=255,c=3,t=7,pt=0,l=0:What does this imply? Is the radio on the gateway having issues with power (which i've read could happen?) - if so, I don't have any capacitors around at the moment (I'll order some if needbe) but for now, could I wire up a second spare uno to the gateway, wire the 3.3 V from that to the radio, join the grounds of the two unos, thereby essentially running the radio on it's own power supply - will this work for now? Would I need to do the same for the sensor potentially?
Also what Capacitor value would you recommend?
Thanks

I am also trying something similar and I get fail in the serial monitor for all the relays I have connected. But after that everything works fine.
-
Sorry, what did you do for everything to work fine?

Right, I've fixed this, temporarily anyway.
So I hooked up a spare uno and hooked it's 3v up to the gateway radio, making sure to link all the grounds up. Still not working. So I hooked up an uno to my nano sensors radio and then it all worked perfectly. Now obviously this isn't a permanent solution as I don't want to have to use two power sources for all my sensors, but I have capacitors on order so I'll try with them next week to see if that fixes the problem. But it's definitely a power problem...

This most probably will be solved with the capacitors installed, here you can find exactly how, I and most people use 4,7u F which is enough.
