Use Google Analytics to store and visualize sensor data

With Google Analytics, using the Universal Analytics Measurement Protocol, it is possible to store your own (sensor) data with Google Analytics and use it to visualize the data.This could be an interesting alternative to commercial storage & visualization services.
Anyone tried it?

It must be possible. But I'm not sure if I'd want to use it. I like my HA data to stay within my home network. But Google would love it. Besides our online profiles, they'd get their hands on our private data as well.

@Yveaux there must be open source alternatives. Big Data and visualization is hot at the moment.
@TheoL I haven't looked to other options recently, but I remember from some time ago that the free alternatives all were quite limited (regarding number of sensors, capacity etc) and they all wanted to commit you to using their paid-plans.
I just think it would be nice to have a cloud storage solution for MySensors data.
@hek maybe something for the future? And possibly including a controller ;-) -
Influxdb would be my first choice for storing time series data. Pretty nifty with continuous queries doing the aggregation.

It's awesome, especially when teamed with Grafana. Been using it myself for quite a while now and it is the only solution so far that meets my needs.
E.g. my central heating system overview:Would be great to have an online solution too.
