RE: Need volunteer to test dualboot OTA with MyController
Hi JKandasa,
I love to, but I try a lot but the OTA thing won't work here.
I followed diff tutorials to setup, and tried with MYSController to update the firmware, but so far no success...So I kinda give up try update over air, I really don't know what I do wrong...
Further ... MyController is working awesome here... +1

Strange problems / behaviour on a project ? List of checkpoints :
Hi all,
I found (for me) a HUGE problem here (it took a while to accidentally run into this problem) so I thought ...
let's share this troublemaker and I hope all you guys and girls add points to this list for "make sense of the sensors life"
for easier troubleshooting ...CHECK / TEST your USB cable ... USB cable ? YES ... your USB cable ...
and DON'T get CHEAP on your USB cable ...Let me tell you why ...
Somehow in the past I run into very strange behaviour or unexplainable errors with some MySensors projects and
luckily I run into this - one of the small troublemakers -
Today I 'moved' my Raspberry & Serial Gateway & RFXCom433 Transceiver to the next room and 'build' it up there to find out that the RFX unit doesn't work like it did any more and did not even reach myany more ... yes it did reach about 1 or 2 times of 10 when I turned it ON and OFF ...
And that switch stayed in the room my Raspberry & Serial Gateway & RFXCom433 Transceiver came from.
So instead of the same room the switch was now in another room and did not work well any more, while I have a same kind of switch in the garage and never give any trouble reaching it in the past. (that one was unreachable now too).So ... with my WHAT THE FROG face build it back into the room where it came from to find out I moved the problem to that room too ... and totally surprised I checked out the RFX, hoping it wasn't broken, and in the mean time asking myself... did I drop it ? Did I step on it ? Does it smelled burned ? Did I drop some coffee over it ?
No.. nothing of that all. So after a while taking everything into my hobby room checking and inspecting it
somehow I figured out that nothing was changed except maybe I switched something in the configuration and I tried as many things I could possible do and finally after some switching and swapping I figured out that the USB cable
was almost the same (... almost), I did some tests with it on the RFX device and other devices
(my navigator did charge, but my Samsung did NOT !!) ... and YES THAT was clearly IT
That same cable maybe give me some unexplainable adventures with my projects (or maybe one of the...)So I hope other people add some points to this list and someone work that out ending up as kinda
-= troubleshooting check list =- somewhere on the MySensor site / forum ... hek ... ?And yes ... it's a long story for such a litle problem (cable) ... and YES I did found the emoticons on the forum
Just let me be happyHopefully I have less or non strange problems in the future.
And the cable ? No it's NOT for sale ... I drive over it a few times with my Swedisch car , lived out on it with my axe and throw it into the fireplace and put the fire on for at least 23 hours

RE: Serial Gateway 1.5 - LEDs not working any more
Same problem here,
very randomly only blink once when press reset button on node (or upload sketch)
And something else... what about :
#define MY_RANDOMSEED_PIN 7 // A7 - Pin used for random generation (do not connect anything to this)
Must be pin 21 for A7 ?

RE: Mysensors node losing connection until reflashed?! (Domonticz controller)
Hi, Happy NY 2U2...
Same problem here, no problem if reboot the rasp. but if I take down the rasp. for a while
and startup the next day, sensors are there in domoticz but not a single sensor is responding on any command anymore, even rebooting sensor won't work, I figure out it helps to make the sensor powerless for a few minutes, but that's not working for every sensor (I was thinking I was the only one with this problem)
Looks like the same problem in :
http://forum.mysensors.org/topic/2604/error-sending-switch-commandPS serial gateway here, 1.5 same problems with 1.4

RE: Controlling blinds from Domoticz
With positioning too ? How ? Or is it standard in your garageport opener ?
-
RE: Controlling blinds from Domoticz
I tried so many way's to learn (again) that in most situations is the simplest/easiest the best.
I used so many motors and in time they all let me down and have cost me lot of construction time (if there is interest I place a few pictures of my different projects). Finally I decide to use a MG995/MG996 with hack as motor (very robust and strong) and (I tried few different methods like a few types of IR trackers and with HALL sensors and magnets) now finally use a cny70 IR Sensor for positioning and a very simple sketch with a 'learning' possibility for start and stop position, and a little switch on it for manual usage, and it's still working very well.
If your bright idea is working please share for learning and let me know if you want to use something of my project (in time I'll make a little small how-to project of it) -
RE: Controlling blinds from Domoticz
Hi, I did it on 4 windows now, with shutters and rolling blinds, did you figure it out yet ?
Or tell me what you want to know (i used S_COVER because I can use the "stop" button too.Greetings

RE: LCD Node scanner
Well ... I give up ...
For however wants to finish or troubleshoot de code ...
-- The floor is yours --
I'm having beside the code a serious problem here with my hardware and I can't figure out what's wrong here ...
For example : if verifying or compiling the code almost 6 of 10 times OSX reboots so I lost the last peace of code every time (yeah I know, I do safe before compile now, but it still is VERY annoying), found out on google I'm not the only one, but no solutions so far...On the other hand I might have a Arduino ghost in my system
For unexplainable reason if I upload the same code, randomly I get strange errors and every time it's something else (???)More strange : if got a part working and going to sleep, turn everything off...
The next day I'll get the most strange differend errors, changes in behave from nodes,
gateways and nodes who dit work the day before, just don't respond anymore no reaction from gateway no LED blink nothing, while in the serial console from the node everything looks ok, even got 'anwsers back' responding with 'ok' while the gateway even didn't blink.a few times clearing the eeproms and reload the code Is the only solution to get a reaction.
This is sinds a few weeks, and I hope I'm not the only one, or else I hope I find out what the problem is ... it starded a few weeks ago with a working gateway when the gateway and or de controller software didn't respond on 'new' or sketch updated nodes...For today ... I'll trow my iMac out of the window ...
Just kiddingBut I'm gonna start over cleaning up everything starting with re-install OSX
See you all in ... euhm ... dunno ... days, weeks, months ?
Ow .. here is the for the moment last code
where I get with every diff. node some diff. errors.
V 1.2 RF24Scanner.inoI hope someone can make something usefull from it, or start from scratch

LCD Node scanner
Attempt to build a independent LCD Node Sniffer / Scanner
For easy debugging of just for fun ... (Still in progress)
If there's animo let me know (before I put time into the fritzing)
This is how I connected the LCD true a PCA8574 I/O expander chip to the Arduino
using the I2C bus (A4 & A5).
If having trouble I made a little sketch for searching for adressen on the i2C bus
Search_I2C.inoThe heart of the project ... the code
It's not finished at all, but feel free to comment me and make / share changes to it.RF24Scanner.ino

Ouch... Thought it had some image analysis going on in the unit itself.
@hek When are we seeing the controller for this in the list of Sensors / Actuators ?

RE: Ethernet Gateway problem
Good to hear Dan...
Hope it keeps going on, as last hope you can add a watchdog to your gateway.
Good Luck

RE: Ethernet Gateway problem
Hi Dan,
Let me see ... try something like, connect it to another hardware router / switch.
Try change the IP adres on the Ethernet Gateway.
Why ? My experience is that my Fritz-box is not registering/showing ANY ethernet shields with Arduino, (don't ask me why) so if that happens and your DHCP box isn't seeing your Arduino it can give mistakenly the same adres to another device (I have actually see it happend here)
Maybe it's a common problem, I really didn't looked it op because I reserve a static Arduino IP-Range outside the range from the DHCP box.Just try to help you by looking from other directions to the problem, I know it's very unpleasant dealing with such problems.
(It's still working here btw. disabling debug) -
RE: Ethernet Gateway problem
Hey Dan,
Did you got it working ?
Ik had some REALY REALY strange problems here with my MQTT gateway, who hung for the most unexplainable reasons, sometimes it worked a few hours, sometimes a few minutes, sometimes it hung when I added a new node (????) ... so no node worked at all anymore after that ...I tried a lot of things, I wasn't sure about the power too here so I used a different power circuit with a cheap LD33V for the NRF only, but that didn't help much either (zucht)
I take the project from my hobby-room table to the places it suppose to work and back for some xXx times.
It works well on the table every time, but when installed I got the weirdest problems ... well ...
I'm not sure it's a solution for you too, I can't explain how it helped me, but It's now stable for a time now ...What did I do ? I just disabled the DEBUG'ing in MyConfig.h O_o for trying out, and it's working for me so far...
Don't ask me how or what, cause I'm not that smart, it was just a desperate try
Maybe the serial was fine when connected to the PC for debugging on the table and was NOT connected when I placed it back, maybe the serial buffer was somehow messed up ... I don't know, maybe the Arduino got just a little bit more memory when debugging is disabled ... really, I can't explain it.
Let's blame it on the ozon and sun flares ...If you want to know (it wasn't my problem here) how I powered my MQTT, just let me know and I make a Fritz diagram...
And maybe can a more geek then me explain this with this fresh look on the problem.-= GreetingZzz and may the sensors be with you =-

RE: EasyIoT server - Mysensors Raspberry Pi controller
@dopustko Thanx, it works now
Are there coming more posabilities soon instead of S_DOOR and V_TRIPPED ?
Great site, and great going with the NRF24L01+ on the Raspberry directlyGreetZz John
