I can't imagine why the WAF is so low.

RE: Relaying node
Thanks for the info Hek. I'm glad to hear it's working successfully for others...and my attempts aren't futile.
Perhaps I didn't wait long enough to have the sensor node find a new parent. I'll try it again and see what happens after 20 attempts.
I explicitly set the "id_parent" within the Vera interface to see if I could force the sensor node to connect to the relay node. It's one of those things where I didn't expect it to work, but gave it a shot anyway for lack of any better ideas.

RE: Relay Node Documentation
I've tried everything I can think of to get the sensor nodes to talk to the relay node with no luck.
Since this thread has become more about relay node troubleshooting and less about documentation I'll move to the following thread:
-
RE: Relaying node
I'm having the same issue using a controller with auto IDs.
I've placed a relay node in a reliable location with a binary switch attached. The binary switch allows me to verify that the relay node is connecting to the gateway reliably. I have a sensor node in a location that cannot reach the gateway directly but is only one meter away from the relay node. The sensor node still cannot connect (ack timeout). I've tried rebooting the sensor node, re-including the sensor node, and explicitly setting the sensor node's parent ID to the ID of the relay node.
Is anyone using a relay node successfully?
Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. My wife has become quite attached to our Faraday's Cage, so I don't expect we'll be moving anytime soon.

RE: Relay Node Documentation
It appears my issues may be related to radio interference or something else. I moved the Ethernet gateway next to my formerly distant sensors and I'm still getting flaky behavior. This weekend I'll shut down all nearby wireless devices (WiFi bridge, AP, and other sensors) and/or start swapping out hardware and see if the situation improves.
I'm happy to assist in relay node testing as well. I'll put an internal antenna radio on my gateway to reduce its strength, fire up my "Mobile MySensors Testing Mule (tm)", pack a lunch, and head off into the distance to strongly encourage it to use the relay node. If there's anything else you'd like me to check let me know.

RE: Relay Node Documentation
Is there a way to determine if the sensor nodes are attaching to a relay node rather than to the gateway directly?
If a child node is attaching to a relay node, is the child's parent ID the relay node ID, rather than the gateway ID?
Should I see attached child nodes listed on the relay node?
What is the fetch function on the relay node used for? My relay node seems to always say "fetching..." and does not list any child nodes. Does this indicate a problem?
Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm trying to resolve an issue with what appears to be intermittent connectivity to some sensor nodes connecting directly to the gateway. I've used the antenna version of the radio on both ends along with the decoupling capacitors. When I move the sensor nodes closer to the gateway they work reliably. I've now installed a relay node in the middle (with antenna and capacitor) and would like to make sure the sensor nodes are using it. I've seen no indication that they are, but I'm making assumptions that the parent ID on the sensors would be the relay ID and/or the relay node would list the child sensors.
Thanks for the assistance. I'm continually impressed with how comprehensive the plug-in is. I'm looking forward to getting past this hurdle and on to making some very cool stuff!

Relay Node Documentation
Where would I find the documentation for setting up relay nodes? I've searched but haven't yet been able to find anything that outlines the steps. Specifically, I'm wanting to know the sequence of steps in order to connect the child nodes to the relay node. For example, do I set the parent ID of the children to the ID of the relay node manually?, when do I use the fetch function?, etc.
Thanks,
Robert

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
@hek That was it. I swapped the radio and all is well. Thank you for your patience HEK!

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
@HEK I went through the troubleshoot guide.
I am using the latest version of the MySensors library. The plugin version does not match the library version (Plugin Version 1.3 vs. Lib Version 1.2+). My understanding based upon another post, is that this discrepancy should be fine.
I've triple-checked the radio wiring.
I have not tried adding a decoupling capacitor.
I am not using an amplified version of the NRF24L01+ chip.Below is a copy of the sensor debug logs:
These three lines appear about every second:
Relaying message back to gateway.
Tx: fr=255,to=0,la=255,ne=0,ci=255,mt=4,ty=5,cr=136:
Ack: receive timeoutThese two lines appear every 10 seconds:
No relay nodes was found. Trying again in 10 seconds.
Tx: fr=255,to=255,la=255,ne=255,ci=255,mt=4,ty=9,cr=184:@BULLDOGLOWELL I haven't tried the capacitors yet. I'll order some and give it a try. FWIW, I have the radios within a few feet of each other.
If there's anything else you can suggest, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Robert

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
I switched to the Ethernet Gateway and I'm now able to see that the Inclusion mode is starting. The start button is highlighted and stays in Inclusion mode for 60 seconds. I haven't yet been able to get it to include a sensor and I'm seeing the following in the Vera log files:

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
I've checked it on a fresh Arduino IDE install and I'm not seeing anything in the Serial Window. I've uncommented the debug line in config.h. If the Serial Gateway is working properly, should I see messages in the Serial Window?
Is anyone using MySensors with UI6?

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
@Malx Thanks. I checked the baud rate in the Serial Window. It is set to 115200.

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
In the serial window I'm getting "0;0;รด" followed by several "ร " characters.
In the Arduino IDE, I'm seeing this in the bottom window:

I tried the powered USB hub and still no luck.
The Vera logs shows the following. The last two lines are in red. Does this mean they are failing?

RE: Vera Inclusion Not Working
@hek Love the new slogan, although I'm sure some of our spouses may disagree. I am using a Nano for the gateway. I wasn't even aware that there were logs (thanks!), but based upon your questions, I suspect the problem may be that I had an Insteon gateway connected to the Vera's USB port and simply swapped it out for the Arduino gateway. Perhaps leaving the Insteon gateway configured in Vera is the cause of my problem. I'll still need the Insteon gateway...because, after all, a man can't have too many gateways. A powered USB hub should arrive tomorrow which will allow me to use both simultaneously. An unpowered USB hub didn't solve my issue (no surprise). I'll test again once the new powered hub arrives. I'll dive into the logs if the new hub doesn't do the trick.
@petewill - I did have the sensor powered up when I clicked the Start button but recycled power within the default inclusion time of 60 seconds. Could there be an issue with having it powered up at the time the Start button was pressed even though it was powered down and up shortly afterwards, or was your issue related to not recycling the power within the inclusion time frame?
Can anyone confirm whether there is a visual indicator within the Vera UI during the inclusion period (i.e. Highlighted Start button, message at the top of the screen, etc.)?
Thanks!
Robert

Vera Inclusion Not Working
Newbie. Please be gentle.
First off a BIG thank you to hek and all of those involved with this. I wrote my own JSON webservice interface to my Arduino sensors and relays. I recently bought a Vera Lite and decided to incorporate my Arduino JSON webservice...and then I came across this. You've saved me countless hours and perhaps even saved my marriage.
I've added the MySensors USB gateway to my Vera Lite. In Devices I see the MySensors plugin along with the Start and Stop inclusion buttons. When I press on the Start button, nothing seems to happen. The button does not stay highlighted, nor does my sensor (motion) appear after restarting it within the 60 second default time frame. I tried adding a momentary button and still nothing seems to happen when I attempt to include the sensor. Should I expect the Start button to be highlighted and/or a message to appear in the message window at the top of the Vera interface page?
I have the latest release of the Vera firmware (1.6.641). The MySensors plug in version is 1.3.
Thanks!
Robert
