Thanks for your reaction. No repeaters used in my home, all nodes (2) directly connect to the gateway.

Maybe the "Samsung ETAOU10EBE" phone charger is also an idea to use. I have one for my phone, and it is very small.
I haven't opened it (i use it for my phone, dohhh), but the charger is small, so the PCB inside will be even smaller.

It is 5V @ 700mA with a microUSB wire. I got a second one from eBay, which was being sold as 'genuine'. And to be honest, i really don't see any difference with the one that came with my phone. It is working fine for more than a year.

I was cleaning up some of the wire mess in my metercabinet and disconnected power from the gateway temporarily. However, it seems that after the power has been off, the nodes don't automatically seem to 'reconnect' again. When i disconnect power from the nodes, they seem to 'find' the gateway again and data starts flowing back in again.

Is this normal behaviour? Quite annoying actually if i have to go through all the nodes (only 2 in my case, but whatever) and powercycle them too.

And yes i waited, but after half an hour still no new data came in, where normally it would receive new data every minute.

I'm using the Ethernet gateway which is read by Domoticz. I have two humidity nodes (DHT22).

@Qu3Uk For covering solder connections you can use 'heatshrink'. Kind of 'plastic' tubes that you put around a wire, apply heat (keep a lighter/match underneath (not in the flame) for example) and it shrinks around the connection.

@gol Thanks. Sounds quite complicated, but i will have a look at it.
As a home automation controller i use Domoticz so i will probably have to convert it to HTTP GET-requests (http://domoticz.com/wiki/Domoticz_API/JSON_URL's). I don't have any knowledge about MQTT haha.

I was aware of this project: http://zil.olammi.iki.fi/sw/dialEye/ but that seems quite complicated in setting up for a Linux noob. But your project seems a lot easier.

Can you please share your code? I am very enthusiastic to try this on my meter And what is inside the black box on top? Only webcam + LED's or some other circuitry?
