A year ago I tried to get some sensors going for the first time. Tried mqtt 1st, but failed. 2nd was serial. That worked. In the end it doesnt matter. When it works, you don't have to look at it anymore. You can just power up new sensors and they will pop up in OpenHAB.

I read other messages about OH not responding to variable state requests, it looks like a "feature"

@dbagioni Is there an error message in the log to the time the gateway changes its state to offline? Have you considered using the binding for OH2 and MySensors?

A re-install seems to have fixed the issue. Not really sure what the deal was. I'm guessing some of the files relating to the other interfaces got deleted somehow? I'm not familiar enough yet with how this all works.

@rozpruwacz said in Issue with item names when sending my nodes a command from openhab to my arduino -> mysensors mqtt gateway / openhab 2.2 snapshot / mosquitto: t help You with your setup because actually I don't understand what You are doing But why You do it this way ? I have it like that: HabPanel is just an UI for OpenHAB, so I don't send anything from HabPanel just controll OH items. Some of them are mqtt items and they send/receive data to/from Oh sorry I meant Arduino Nano is my gateway not a broker ( I edited above post to fix). I only have one broker which is the Raspberry Pi. So its basically the same thing but I want to send controls to my sensors via the HabPanel. I can receive from the sensors with no problems. It's the sending that doesnt work when I use the variable "${item}".

In PaperUI, goto Configuration/Things/MySensors Ethernet Gateway. Set Disable Network Sanity Check to On (the label is named backwards). This sends a status check at your defined interval. This will reconnect your gw if it fails x times. (See other config params on that page)

Ok I'll answer my question here as I found the error with some help: it has to be nodeId // not nodeID

@gohan I'm almost 100% sure they're clones, yeah. But they've been going for 2 days now across the range of my house (while in low power mode - no capacitor in place yet), so they'll do for prototyping. Once I get to designing and printing boards, then I'll be a lot fussier :)
