Mixing sensors in two houses
-
Hello @Anticimex
You have mentioned in the tutorial the example of the motion sensor. Your advice was that signing is not important in that case as it is more dangerous to put a signed node outside which can be stolen. Further more this stolen node can be re programmed as a 'Gateway' to send signed messages to your secured sensor nodes.
My understanding is correct till now ?
If yes. Then consider this situatiom with me please. If it happens that two different houses uses the mysensors library as it is becoming more popular now thus when I start up my node it will automatically appear in Domoticz for example, or the sensor ID is assigned as Static in the SW - for example - 5. The other house by coincedence has a motion sensor / door sensor with same sensor node ID 5. In this case I guess that there is no way to differentiate between the coming values except by using signing to know which sensor node belongs to the Gateway of each house.
This is a rare use case but this may happen. Correct ?
How could this be solved without using signing ?
Thanks

@ahmedadelhosni your question addresses an issue when not using signing, so I suggest you place it under a different thread, as this thread discusses usecases and a when actually using signing

No ideas guys ?

Yes, you'll have a clash if using the same frequency and radio-id on both networks. Not much to about it atm other than changing it.
-
@hek yeah right. It can be solved by changing freq.
Thanks
-
@hek Hi again, Do I have also to change the MY_RF24_BASE_RADIO_ID ?
-
No, but you should probably move the frequency a few channels to avoid interference/leakage.

@hek Great. Thanks for your fast response.
