Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I know this is quite old and I apologise for reopening I'm just wondering if there's a piece of example code for this concept? And if it would be possible to show any error states on here like failed connection to the MQTT server or if a node isn't able to be 'pinged' I guess you could say? Cheers!

@Opus40 enabling MY_USE_UDP in ESP8266 prevents wdt from barking (but obviously not a solution for the gw)

Ok, I tried to breadboard the sensebender micro and use the pre-build MYSBootloader - it works. That indicates that I didn't manage to build the bootloader myself :-/ I will look into it later. Thanks for your replies. BR Jonas

Sorry for the huge kick.. But I seem to have the same ethernet gateway as TS. His his wire diagram valid?

Im also having problems with domoticz and negative values. Im reporting value and want to see increase or decrease. And negative values are represented as long int value -1 (I think). [image: 1457599896778-domnegative.png]

<SOLVED> OK so my presumption/suspicion was right, does need to be sending an active signal for the node to transmit any data. Seems to be working well now, just have to find a spot in my long house where the gateway will reliably talk to the polytunnel AND the meter reader. And for any others struggling with this, especially getting the sensor LM393 to work, I found it needs to be pointed directly at the LED in my meter, not side on. To achieve this I drilled a small hole in the top of a jam jar lid and epoxied the board to it, then taped the lid to the meter. Seems to be working a treat now. YAY! Thanks MS team, you have a great product. Next step is temp sensors for the kids bedrooms and a relay on their heaters (winter is coming to the deep south of NZ) Cheers, Matt

After visiting @m26872 and getting great insights to his workflow and his projects, I can report this: The avrisp mk ii I borrowed from a co-worker does not work. So that's why I wasn't successful using that device. AVR Studio gave some helpful error messages, much more helpful than Arduino IDE, so lesson learned: Use AVR Studio when troubleshooting. Using my Arduino Uno as ISP worked fine at his place, even without the capacitor. When I got home, I tried 10 times without the capacitor and all but 1 were successful. Strange. But at least it works :) We were not able to revive any of the 4 Pro Mini i "bricked" when experimenting. Good thing they are so cheap :) A BIG thanks to m26872 for helping me and for a nice visit to his home.
