MCP1640C is 5 times cheaper than LTC3525D and they are quite similar. I just now revised the board to expose the Enable pin, so now you can do a pass-through if you wish.       @Jason-Brunk small value resistors can do the trick but you better try two silicon diodes 1N4001 or similar in series with the power line. Each diode give you around.0.7 volt drop.
