  I try to change the pin 2 by another but my lcd doesn't works. I don't know if it's possible to change the assignment for the pin lcd. To put in place the lcd I have used a tutorial. I have a look on google but a lot of tutorials have the same pin assignment.

  @OliverDog when sending to gateway you cannot trust your multimeter. It's probably around 15mA but only during a fraction of a second, and what you read is some kind of average between that and the very low power consumption in sleep mode.

  Have been using this for more than a year, without problems http://s.aliexpress.com/iAJRFfY3 I was using a plain 5V solar cell at first, but later I used a rainproof solar LED light as a housing, after removing everything except the solar cell. http://s.aliexpress.com/MR7RjYb2 The node has an NRF24L01 PA version (with the antenna), and communicates with the GW 6 stories below, sending the solar water heater temperature every minute.

  @Newzwaver the wiring is pretty straight forward following the above links for the transistors and display. I will try to post a wiring scheme, but that like can't happen within the next two weeks for time constrains. As for the parts list: Arduino nano I2C display, such as the 20x4 character display described here: https://www.mysensors.org/build/display 1 or 2 transistors, I have used the Maverick PR-022 which meanwhile I learned are made of Semiech's 105GT-2 (datasheet: https://www.rapidonline.com/pdf/61-0442.pdf) 1 or 2 resistors matching your thermistor's nominal resistance (for the above: 1 MOhm) The wiring for each of the thermistors and the display is independent of each other following the above guidelines and you can use either one or two thermistors. The display is optional, too. Hope this helps for now. I will post diagrams when I have a chance...

  It's an older model with no chance of getting direct readings or reading it's circuits non-invasively. The easiest I could figure is making a very small hole in the PU shielding close to the top and pushing that thermistor or DS18 to contact the metal surface and get a ball park reading. Maybe with some thermal paste to improve contact. I'd say I'm happy with anything within a few degrees of the truth. AND I have thermistors lying around. Anyway, going to try it. If it's bad, I'll report the results and proceed to order something like that DS18.

  @sineverba Many thanks to your hint. I do same everything starts working perfectly. No can use raspi serial nrf and not need to but not necessary Arduino nano to do gateway things. Many thanks one more time. This kind configure i put, everything works now ok. Tx rx and er led not work, but i can live with that ./configure --my-transport=nrf24 --my-gateway=serial --my-serial-is-pty --my-serial-pty=/dev/ttyUSB020 --my-transport=nrf24 --my-rf24-irq-pin=15 --my-rf24-channel=108 --my-leds-err-pin=12 --my-leds-rx-pin=16 --my-leds-tx-pin=18 Can someone tell why mysensors sketch take so much size on program memory. And i but debug // out commented first row and after that still printing serial monitor. Here my code now. Can i do simpler that code because i know i use 3-5 ds1820 sensors not need to scan everytime what sensors there are and now they are harder rename. Try to search some examples, but almost all use this ds1820 example code. I think code is more and more simpler if just do 3pcs ds1820 sensors and name that temps allready with some name. After that see directly on Domoticz what sensor is what. Everyhints with this is ok, that works ok right now with this example code, but code is quite big (big sketch) and have that sensor scan system what i not needed. What i can do that 30000ms sleep, if i but relay and switch systems in this same node. Only edit is now couple rows code to use my oled display to show one ds1820 sensor temp.   I nwas about talking about digispark (attiny85) board that would be a good match for rolling out mysensors if only had a couple more pins: I was asking if it's possible to use them after all one way or another, at least for basic sensors with 3 pins (GND, Vcc, Signal) from which we need only Signal.   @cadet You can send on the fly if you like, the message bellow is for a binary switch but the format is the same. You would need to use V_TEMP instead of V_STATUS and put the temp in the .set at the end To receive, using your code as an example void receive(const MyMessage &message) { if (message.type == V_TEMP) { temper = message.getFloat(); //put code here to be executed when the return from the request arrives Serial.print(temper); lcd.setCursor(2, 3); lcd.print(temper); } } And temper would need to be declared as a float of course.

  Once I decided to power the HX711 externally rather than through the solar node, it has turned out to be a nice little current monitor. Typical charging currents for indoor solar nodes that are far from windows is only around 50ua, and the HX711 seems good enough for monitoring charge currents at around that amount.   I know 0.00001 about Vera (i know just the name), but i probably can help you light up an RGB LED. Can you post any code you already have running on an Arduino? I know there is a S_RGB_LIGHT message in MySensors.. So i guess: it is also known/recognized by Vera. shoot!

  @peres I have now resolved with good results by connecting a simple atmega328 to my rfm69hw, with a pir in sleep mode consumes About 100 micro, use 8mhz bootloader without Crystal, use mysensors library and nodemanager

  @alexsh1 I did and it is working fine at 3.3V- just the power consumption of ATmega2560 is relatively high. I will probably use some other microcontroller. I'm looking towards Arduino Zero.

  if it is an emergency button should be connected directly to relay (connected by hardware). And not using code,because if arduino it's freezed it will not respond and you cant stop it

  Maybe you could try to integrate it with a controller more than with mysensors. Unless you find a ism receiver that is not a dongle and it has a library to use it.

  @MiKa If you happen to have time, could you test the range with a stable 2.7V supply and a 1mF cap in parallel to the battery? I am really not happy with the HT7333 solution, since the shelf life of the keyfob will be limited and the quite expensive LIR2032 can easily be damaged by undervoltage. If the second test works, I could fit 4 220uF 6.3V tantalums next to the LED. Else I would give the step-up thing another go. There are low profile inductors, but I didn't find any for cheap (shipping) at Aliexpress.

  I successed to include the arduino micro in Mysensors plugin of Jeedom. Now everything work. I plugged the DHT11 vcc on FTDI Header vcc pin. I plugged the USB ttl vcc on raw pin. And now everything work fine.

  @korttoma UVM-30a still the prefered sensor Cant say. I have been using this for the last year (wrong apparently) but worked as expected. Does connecting a booster to an output pin that is turned of work as expected? Does not the booster try to boost even if the output pin is low? I dont know what will happen over time so I have to come back to that but I had a reading of 5uA in sleep mode which to me indicates a success. I did so because one of the sensors has a minimum of 3.3v and that would stop working pretty soon. Since the rest of the system should be able to go lower I wanted to test... the node is really stable and working great so far!

  @The-Profit I am sure that the arduino library and the MySensors library are different in how they talk to devices. The MySensors gateway is not only supported as a serial gateway, though I think that is the most common way that people connect. MySensors also supports an RS485 wired gateway, MQTT gateway, and a few others. Check out the "Selecting a gateway" page for more on the gateways. If you have MQTT already set up for HomeSeer, you may not need any gateay at all (could be wrong on that though), not exactly sure as I have never used MQTT. As @Tmaster mentions, you could build a dimmer sensor, but if you are going to do that, you will want to make sure you make one that is safe for inductive loads. If you don't have one for inductive loads, you could easily burn out the circuit. I have not had the time to dig into this one again, though I hope to soon. I have my hands full at the moment with my weather station node that I have been building. Once I get more done on this, I will post to this topic again.

  I had similar problems with some of my nodes. To fix it I forced them to use the repeater as the parent node. Once I did that the nodes worked perfectly.

Somewhere (outside any function) in the top of the sketch that variable is declared and at the same time initialized (given a value). bool inSetup = true; In the rest of the sketch, that variable's value is never changed: The value of inSetup is always the same, all the time. It's value simply remains the same. In every Arduino-sketch you're obligated to define two special functions, namely: setup() and loop(). If you don't have them in your sketch, the sketch would not compile. The setup() function is executed only once. It is called at the beginning of any Arduino sketch. It's used to do things that only need to be done one time, like setting pins to input or output, or perhaps even displaying a startup text on a connected display. The loop() function holds the code that is executed repeatedly. All of it's code is run, and when all that code is done executing (and the loop-code is finished), the Arduino just starts all that loop-code anew. Normally, it keeps on doing that until the power goes off. In your sketch's loop() function, there is a call to: goGetValveTimes();. Code in the loop() is executed over and over again. That means, that also goGetValveTimes() is executed over and over again. Now suppose your LCD is full of text, already been displayed in other parts of the code. Every loop() cycle will make a call to goGetValveTimes(). In that function named goGetValveTimes() is that block of code that is executed: if (inSetup) { lcd.print(F(" Updating ")); lcd.setCursor(0, 1); lcd.print(F(" Valve Data: ")); lcd.print(valveIndex); } Code inside that block is always executed. It sets the cursor, and prints the valve data line. It is always executed because the variable inSetup is always true. Therefore no matter what was on your LCD, in every loop() cycle, that line on the display is overwritten with the valve data.. just as it is instructed to do. Another way to fix the problem, while keeping that block of code (displaying the valve data), is to set the value of variable inSetup to false at the right moment. That way the code block is not executed anymore, and will no longer keep overwriting your text already on the display. Probably the best moment to do that, is at the end of the setup() function. like so: void setup() { // at the end of your setup() function it would then look like this: goGetValveTimes(); } lcd.clear(); inSetup = false; } I believe that explains what was going on in your sketch..

  Nice. i`m building an version that control just 2 selenoids valvs 24v AC controlled by 5-12v DC . i will post it when its ready.stills testing the humidity sensor .. i build it from scratch because i change all the smart features to the sensors instead of depending from the gw. one of selenoids work all days ,the other just day yes ,day not.

  Thanks gohan.. This forum is a great source of inspiration. Lots of examples of people and their own projects, and/or problems they encounter(ed). I'm fairly new to MySensors & Arduino, but i have a lot of experience with Atmel AVR. At this time, i'm more reading than writing: absorbing info first. Hopefully i can help out others too sometimes.. it's cool to share knowledge. I already have 10 Arduino Yúns & 2 Raspberries at my disposal (they belong to friends i'm helping out). It would be fun to find a sensible application to combine a MySensors radio network (or perhaps multiple networks), and the IOT-capabilities of the Yún(s) & Raspberries. But that's another project..

  It depends if it is a normal relay on/off command or a bus communication. If it is the first case you could replace it with a node and a relay (could be arduino mini pro or esp8266 + relay) and a temperature sensor and set up the controller with time schedule and temperatures you want during the day. My personal suggestion if you have just an on/off command is to get something like a Netatmo thermostat (I have one and I am so happy with it) because they use a learning algorithm that adapts automatically according to your house heating system that keeps temperature constant taking advantage of the heating inertia (implementing it in a controller is really an hassle). For water heating it is simpler as you may just need a relay and schedule on/off on the controller

  @Yveaux You board is almost perfect. You could just expose some of the pins with the next version. This would keep it very generic anf make it easy to add additional functions. Commercial devices contain temp, hum and light sensors. And a vibration sensor as thief protection. Most of that could easily fit in the molgan.

  @segelmann Great to see you are having fun on your Mysensors journey. A reliable connection to your nodes is a most important piece of a Mysensors setup. This becomes very apparent when you start deploying light switches that require an immediate reaction once activated. There is nothing worse than to gather all your family around to show off your latest piece of node wizardry only to find it does not perform as expected every time. For nodes that are to be on the fringes of range I use this mod to the antenna, In testing I have found it to make a worthwhile improvement to range. For my outside network I used this method to first establish the reliable range from my gateway , then once my first repeater was established used the same method to place the next repeater within range of my first repeater. By using the antenna mod and correct repeater placement I now have reliable connections to my nodes over 100m away from the gateway with just two repeater nodes. You will find that once you get clear of buildings you will get a sizeable increase in the distance that can be covered reliably. There are a few things to remember with repeater nodes, you cannot use sleep or delay in their code as this will prevent them from working as a repeater. You should try and have the repeater node as high up as is practical and clear of surrounding walls etc that might impede their signal. Nodes that are on the fringe of range from the gateway may still connect to the gateway instead of your repeater and thus still give you unstable results. To prevent this you can include the code below . #define MY_PARENT_NODE_ID 11 // set this to your repeater node id #define MY_PARENT_NODE_IS_STATIC // this will force your node to use only the repeater this must be added at the top of your sketch before #include <MySensors.h> and will instruct the node to use the repeater at all times. Of course you must ensure that the repeater is always available.

  @AWI Ha, I forgot about that...I remembered that you actually need a minimum load on the output of the switching regulator for it to even run. I created a spreadsheet just taking into account the quiescent currents and assuming 70% effciency for the lm2596 (a "bit" optimistic. Datasheet says 80% at 3A load for 12V-5V operation). Quiescent current for the LM2596 is much higher. Considering the mini pro takes about 12-20mA running, I am sure to opt for the 7805 or LM317 from now on (If there is nothing else drawing current). I think nano etc are comparable but the FTDI USB to serial converter probably adds some current that the mini pro is missing. 0_1491471734938_analysis7805.xlsx

  If I get any more of these I won't hack them like I did the other ones. I just recently got some Sonoffs that I put the ESPEasy firmware on and am using a modified wifi switch plugin on my VeraPlus that seems to be working good now I did try the ESPEasy firmware on the Eco Plugs, but had some issues with it in the beginning which is why I switched. I still have the ESP8266 controllers that I pulled out of those Eco Plugs, All I have to do to use them on a different relay board is connect 3 wires, Ground, +5 volts and the control signal for the relay, so the boards won't go to waste. I am just finishing up one of my newly printed 4 button wall switch controllers (https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/4317/us-decora-style-wall-switch/34), and I will be doing a 2 button controller immediately after that one. Both of these will be used like scene controllers for my Vera Plus and I will use them to control the Sonoffs connected to my ceiling fans and lights. I may get a couple more of the Eco Plugs to use with the 4 button switch controller.

  @engy I never let the sensor stay for to long since it was so ugly and seemed to drain my batteries fast. What I eventually did was restore it to its original state with a light and light-sensor and powered with a usb charger. Now when motion is detected an event with the light intensity is sent to my HASS server, who then decides if the light should turn on or not....

  Yep, both were 3D printed back then. The Toronto library actually has 3D printers so I built a CAD model and had it printed there. There are also have a lot of web-based companies who will print and ship out parts. Since then I've built my own 3D printer, it comes in handy and they're getting pretty cheap.

  Hi, all this is awesome, about the same what I would like to make as I'm heating the house with wood boiler (actually wood gasification boiler to be correct), and accumulation tank. Still working on hot water boiler, but that's not far. For now, I got working Individually DS18b20 node (still with automatic addressing) and one node that reads the temperature in my boilers second burning chamber with a k-type thermocouple but still struggling to get them bout working with one node. It would be very helpful for some guidance or example for this. So my goal is to get 2x thermocouples (additional for smoke temperatures) and some 18b20s in one node + some standard stuff what I am not still sure about. But for now big thanks to mysensors team and community for this.

  I liked domoticz (was very easy to set up and use). Together with dzVents scripting wasn't that difficult either. But I also had some problem with it lately, so I was actually thinking about switching to openhab (2).

  @artipi Yes you can connect a pro mini or an uno. In sleep mode it draws 15ma.

  @marceltrapman Haven't had the time to add an ack to the battery request, but the sensor is working just fine. I don't know if it's my home assistant setup or something else causing the battery levels to get lost but I'm sure it's not part of the smoke alarm hack. Since the sensor drain is almost nothing, the battery levels are not moving much. I cant guarantee the pcb layout is the same on newer versions of this smoke alarm..

  I use a similar design for a wireless door bell. To not be forced to push the button while the node is booting, I charge a large capacitor when a button is pressed.

  I couldn't just lay down in the sofa so I started to test and now I got a code that seems to work. I have tested it for a few days and it seems to count correct. I made some changes so it will send data every minute and it will send Watt-value even if it is the same value since last time. I am using VAR2 for second energy meter since I don't know how to config Incomingmessage and seperate VAR1 from different Child_IDs.   @clippermiami can you hit it from your house with a garage door opener? I haven't integrated mine into a HA controller yet, but for now I just have an RPi driving a relay board that is soldered into the guts from a garage door opener. Bonus there are three buttons so I can run both garage doors and the front gate from a web interface. I'm sure you could do the same with an arduino in place of the RPi.

  I implemented this with a schneider PM9C using modbus which works fine Zigbee is just transport, shouldnt be to hard to translate.. You need the manual to see what data it provides, which i couldnt find online. The model you specified has been of the market for some years.

  Hi, It's hard to say right now. It can be interesting to know how do you control the On/Off. Those Ceramic caps don't like to be used without any liquid and can be damaged very quickly if there are dry. But normally there is a build in switch off circuit if no liquid is detected. Can you tell me more how to you modify the electronic to control it with Mysensors ?

  @Eawo Domoticz groups sensors after the order you present them in, see: https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/5132/ds18b20-ans-sht31-d-show-up-as-combined-sensors-on-domoticz/15 I send every 5 minutes and check the value before so that I only send if the value has changed I have been running my sensor for nearly 2 months now and battery level has only decreased 1-2% Make sure you use 1 MHz bootloader

  Thank you everyone for your input on this. Eventually i just used a piece of wire 82mm long and bent it over and stuck it out of one of the slots in the housing. Crude i know but the initial results are promising. The Gateway is in one corner of the house upstairs and i placed the sensor in the opposite diagonal corner downstairs in the house through a guess of 4 brick walls and the sensor is reporting an Rssi of -65db ti -70db. Shame Rssi can not be presented in Domoticz properly yet (Having to use a dummy sound sensor to visualise it) as mysensors has no way of handling it yet!. I will be conducting more range tests but the change from NRF24 was well worth it (No more deadspots in the house).

  Thank you Sundberg84, Actually I was not planning in using any controller but upgrading the already available hardware and firm if necessary. The fastest opton would be replicating a 2 way unit in the ones I got but that would reduce the fun. This would be the only option if functionality is based in the firmware

  @drock1985 the comparison for the tripped check is commented out, so it will send values every time. Uncomment it If that doesn't help, please post the debug output of the node.

  Nice build, and great idea using the ultra sonic sensor. This sort of thing was the exact reason I got into arduino and eventually mysensors. I had a concern about a damp basement and went looking for a water leak detection alarm but the prices were so high at the time... eventually I stumbled upon arduino and the obsession went from there. The first node I ever made was a water leak detection system that used the 4cm thing mentioned above... then I realized I had all these left over pins so I filled them up with a gas, flame, temperature, humidity and light sensor. Forget nest protect and commercial water leak detection systems... I now have an all in one DIY solution that probably only cost $30

  @Boots33 I've fried a couple pro mini's and a nano running 12v to the vin/raw... actually in one case it might have been up to 15v .... oops. But I've since learned my lesson.... I now use a Linear Voltage Regulator between the source and the arduino for all my builds that have a higher voltage power source (i.e.: builds that run lights). Typically a L7805CV or L7809CV or L7810CV (or other) depending on the voltage of my source and what I want to send to the arduino. Here is an example L7809CV from AliExpress

  Wow this is an old topic! But... I was working on a project and thought that anyone who was looking for a NeoPixel candle example that isn't blocking, well this would be the place. It flickers and flutters like a real candle. The only thing is that the flame isn't illuminated like these nice Luminaras, but I'm too cheap to buy them! Keep in mind that my example here uses GRB LEDs, but you merely need to reorder the variables in order to get this working for RGB. Plus the Time Library is not Arduino, so you will have to play with that too for a good randomSeed(). It looks pretty realistic with even a single neoPixel in a sheet of A4 paper rolled into a cylinder. I'll post a video when I can.   So, it's been quite some time. The apartment is done so no more construction work. But I ended up changing the whole setup. My initial setup with pi zeros dind't go so well. It worked 90% of the time but sometimes the relays would bounce although I had them debounced (well I guess not that good) and with the whole cabeling I built an antenna, that started switching whenever some one walked through the room, so back to the basics, added opto couplers an rc's so the antenna behavior was gone, but everytime I pluged something in or out of the 230V Sockets some light would turn on or off. As my wife started to question the whole project I didn't bother to check if the power regulator of the pi was a mess or whatever the problem was. This is yet to be investigated. I bought the eq3 RX/TX boards. connected them to the relay board and the light switches and it works. It's great that I have a working solution but it's sad that it isn't my solution. I add some pics so you see what my Idea looked like.

  Never heard of such a thing. Photo detectors could be used to sense the presence of opaque or reflective plastics. There's also colour detectors that could be used if the plastic material have a specific colour. But I guess you would see a few false positives.

  @SuperKris you already solved the problem with Pin0 and 1 (did you?). Here is possibly another solution (from 2.0 API MY_DISABLED_SERIAL Disabled Enable this in sketch if you want to use TX(1), RX(0) as normal I/O pin so #define MY_DISABLED_SERIAL should free Pin 0 and Pin 1.

  @mikee You would want the MPX5010DP instead to get a 5V analog output for Arduino ADC, but still - to detect increased filter pressure drop I'd say you'll need 10Pa resolution. With MPX5010DP you'll get 10kPa/1024=9.75, i.e. OK. I guess you'd be able to detect something despite the noise, but not an early warning or trending. (You would want a 0..1kPa range sensor or something instead to do that. I don't now which one.) Give it a try and please report back! If you search the internet for "arduino MPX2010DP" you'll find a few projects measuring water level.

  @siod new observation: I have two temp nodes with red Htu21d in them. One keeps locking up randomly. Have to go outside and reset the arduino. I'll try another sensor today and see if it fixes things. Have completely rebuild the node twice now with new parts except the sensor.

  @dbemowsk Just an idea, use a dimmer in domoticz for the volume, when you receive a value from the controller, then send VOLM and the value.. There is no need for the controller to know how to set the volume (the VOLM command) For IR commands, that's probably another story, Haven't looked that much into it (yet).. Right now I have a logitech harmony elite, integrated with domoticz, so that I (from domoticz) can turn on different scenes.. But I can not send an individual command to the tv, or the radio..

  After filding around a lot with the MySensor2.0 lib and spending my whole weekend, when I could not get things going I finally switched back to MySensors1.5.4.   With the BME280 voltage regulator removed, I powered it stand-alone using a 3.3V bench power supply. Using Dave Jones's uCurrent in conjunction with a Fluke 87V multimeter, I measure the standby current at a mere 155 nanoamps. I had planned to power it from pins on the atmega328p and then powering it down between measurements, but at 155na I'm not sure it even matters, provided it's being powered from a battery. On the other hand, if the entire mote is being powered from a capacitor that's charged from solar energy that's harvested from only weak ambient indoor light.... I guess in that scenario it might depend on the relative leakage rate of the capacitor that's used for the mote's energy storage as to whether or not it's worth fussing about.

  Did you verify that the message is received by the node? I'm not familiar with FHEM, please note, that the first outlet uses child ID 4. What's the debug output of the node?

  Inspired by this, I eventually got round to making a smaller gateway: I'm powering this from a 5V USB source, with an AM1117 3.3V regulator for the radio. I also took the opportunity to use the MySensors 2.0.0 Serial Gateway example, and to convert my existing sketches - I followed this thread.

Back to the issue that you are not receiving messages from your voltage sensor on your Gateway node: What is found is that messages sent to the gateway node are not interpreted by the node but directly forwarded to the serial port to the controller. The #else code below in my MyTransport.cpp is responsible for that.   Hi i actually did this hack 4 weeks ago, its quite ugly, but here goes: Arduino 5v with external power and the sketch: https://github.com/mysensors/MySensorsArduinoExamples/blob/master/examples/RelayWithButtonActuator/RelayWithButtonActuator.ino Connect the relay to gnd on the little controlboard and the first "long 30-min-spray solderpoint" just Connect some spare wire to test when the motor starts (it start after 15 seconds) tadaa! Use the pushbutton to start the airwick manually. i have a simple timer in domoticz that just shuts off the switch after 20 seconds. This weekend i will build the MQ-2 sensor
