  @Paul-Scarbro There are multitude of solution, but since we are in MySensors Land, let's do a MySensors solution. You'll quickly see that doing that adds a lot of overhead. We'll use an Arduino Nano or RF Nano if you're going to go whole hog. It can be run from 3.3V or 5V DC, not AC. The reed switch would be connected to an input of the Nano and one of the outputs would drive a relay. The relay would drive the chime. By looking at the MySensors Relay example, you'll see how to integrate this into a MySensors environment. That's where you'd want to get the RF Nano. I've made the assumption you're familiar with the Arduino IDE and you've looked into the MySensors environment.

  @OldSurferDude yeah, 10 virgin nodes powered up at the same time is a bad idea I seem to remember reading somwewhere here warning aginst that. If yu have node ID trust issues with Mysensors you should move your address to different locaion as 0x00 is used by Mysensors... just sayin..;)

  Quick Range Check on the WIO-E5-LE. The LE version uses only the low power PA, +14dBm max. Using the default settings except for 915MHz #define MY_SX126x_FREQUENCY (SX126x_915MHZ) #define MY_SX126x_LORA_SF LORA_SF7 #define MY_SX126x_LORA_BW LORA_BW_125 #define MY_SX126x_LORA_CR LORA_CR_4_5 I get about 190 meter range, just walking around the neighborhood, line of site except for some trees and power lines. No tuning on the antenna. Just using a 77.9mm wire. Not as dramatic as some have achieved with LoRa radio's, but plenty good enough for my house and yard : )

  Hallo! Ich habe gerade meinen Aduino Nano mit einem GY-BME/P-280 verbunden über SPI verbunden. Im Sketch habe ich nur die PINS geändert und zwar auf: #define BMP_SCK 13 #define BMP_MISO 12 #define BMP_MOSI 11 #define BMP_CS 10 Ich bekomme aber bei der Ausgabe am seriellen Monitor nur "Hyroglyphen" zB 5��,�lh����}����'�O8��m�h,� Mit einem anderen Sketch funktioniert der Sensor einwandfrei. Auch mit einem anderen Nano dasselbe Ergebnis. Hat jemand eine Idee was das Problem sein könnte? Zusatzfrage da ich in C++ nicht so firm bin: Könnte es sein, dass MY_DEBUG oder MY_RADIO_NRF24 das problem verursacht. Was machen diese Definitionen eigentlich? Grüße

  @OldSurferDude yes, you are correct. this sensor is capable of 50A continuous, which safely I would make it working at 40A max., but for such an important load as in your case I would go for a beefier one, like the ACS75x, 77x, but at this point I would also change the node's form factor for space and insulation reasons. On my application on the RV I have a max. curr. of 13A running on a AWG14-16 cable (European rules for RVs), so I did not ask myself too many questions beside, of course, safety. About the signal, it will be a sinusoidal signal swinging around Vcc/2. Vcc can be easily measured internally on the ATmega328. On all my DC sensors I measure Vcc at every loop, just before measuring the ADCs. Honestly, when the space is not an issue like in my RV, I would rather use a ring core current transformer, and I would get rid of noise, response time, power dissipation, but over all no need to cut any cable. Long story short, it has been a nice experiment and I used it for 6 months, and then I switched back to my RF-NANO based RS485-Modbus - Mysensors bridge connected to an off-the shelf power analyzer. Just for fun I attach a pic of my 12Vdc sensors installed on my RV. Forgive me for the spaghetti wiring on the right side, but this is an area that needs improvement.

  We are of like minds, Don't like the cloud based controls (that's another discussion). In my case I have a Bryant/Connex system, heat pump, variable speed fan and 4 zones. There's a lot going on: the 4 zones creates 16 profiles. The fan speed for a profile will depend on the indoor and outdoor temperature. The thermal fluid pump also has to be controlled. A profile will have an optimal air pressure, so there's a sensor there. The controller works just fine not being connected to the cloud. But I want to set the parameters remotely, Bryant/Connex can do this. I also wnat the status of the various actuators and sensors to show up in Home Assistant. The signals sent over the RS422 are proprietary. My plan was to reverse-engineer the signals. After doing this I'll have to experiment to get the right mix of air pressue, fan speed and thermal fluid flow for each profile. I'd like to do the same for my AO Smith heat pump water heater. I'd like to follow your progress. OSD

  Hello everyone, Firstly, I apologize for reviving such an old thread, but I find myself in a unique situation and was hoping some of you might be able to help. I hope everyone's doing well. I have a specific inquiry that I couldn't find a recent solution for. Does anyone here know of a tool to generate "fake" Dooya remote (DC90) RF codes for curtains? I've acquired a few motors without controllers and am trying to integrate them with Home Assistant and Bradlink RF remote. Specifically, I'm searching for a way to generate codes for the Up, Down, Stop, and the "Set" button functions to configure curtain limits. Any insights or guidance would be immensely appreciated.   @Kokosnoot good solution. I remember the discussion in the early days of MySensors. I've powered the radio's for most of my sensors from the 3.3v regulator on the arduino board and for me that works perfect. But for my latest designs I decided to add a separate ams regulator for my radio's like the guys suggested in the beginning. Because you basically want the on board regulator to power the mcu only.

  @adds666 I'm not sure but I believe Domoticz prresents it's dimmer values in steps from 5 to 100 I believe. It'd about 10 steps. That's why I'm not sure if you can add more patterns. Unless you indeed change it to a percentage. Hope it helps

  @pbw a gateway's function is to act as a gateway between the nodes and a controller. I don't think you will have all of the needed memory available to add logic to the gateway and you will make your solution very static. You can implemented your own lightway controller, just have a look at the Serial API. But controllers like Domoticz are lightweight and the already over a browser based interface. And most of them are easy to setup creating a much more versatile and dynamic solution.

  @DeepCore That is a need looking design. Did you consider using an alternative power supply other than usb? My Pi can't handle a lot of usb devices power wise, so I'm using a powered usb hub. But the wife doesn't like it, it's messy xd

  @bach It does look really great! As far of resistor divers I'm not much fan of that. There are several other options, like a logic level converter circuit with FETs. If I have all 3.3V devices connected to an mcu I prefer to use a 3.3v mcu. Like an esp2866, but I'm still waiting until the irq support on the esp2866 gets available. For me the nrf24's are still working great and I have a stacked up a lot lol. I'm however experimenting with the rfm's. As I need a bit more range to reach the end of my backyard.

  @patrick-schaerer can I use same code file for measuring current only using sct-013-030 and at other end I'll use other sensor to read ac voltage and with the help of that I'll calculate power. I'm new on this. Just start learning and I'm using esp32 instead of Arduino. Please share your suggestion on this. It will really help me to learn .

  @A3V Great thanks I've also bought one and will add radios and sensors to it. Maybe I'll even make the light controllable from the arduino instead, or don't use the light at all. I paid 8€ for this complete light that gives a solar panel, battery and charging circuit. Buying the components is already more expensive I would say

  Success! Treating the nRF52805 like an nRF52810 and uploading to it from Segger Embedded Studio's IDE using Nordic's nRF52 SDK's PCA10040e board definition, then pin P.18 blinks using the same sketch that blinked P.18 on the nRF52832. I'm reporting back with this good news, because I haven't seen it tried or documented anywhere before. At least for this modest first attempt, this simple spoof works! At $2.50 each, these tiny nRF52805 modules with their trace antennas are a good value. By the way, the compiler that's built into Segger Embedded Systems is super fast compared to gcc.

  @mschro1 I really got inspired. I ordered a flowmeter and the plumbing to check it out. I wrote code that actually works. The 5V from the Arduino can drive the sensor. I'll be putting it all together this weekend. My goal is to determine how much water I'm extracting from the seep on my property. I'm having fun

  @yoshi824 Most of us have been where you are now! I suggest that you try to see the patterns in the code that you have working and try to make the SHT30 work from what you learn. If it does not work as you want then post here the full code you have and what it is/isn't doing and you should get some help.

  @clivec If you look in the MySensors code, wifi is not an option for the radio transport. You'd have to somehow write your own deal for that, and it would likely get really involved. ESP32 is supported for a gateway, where the wifi is the backhaul transport, effectively, but you would need a separate radio for the MySensors side of things. To use an ESP32 on its own, without a separate radio, you might look into something like https://esphome.io/ This does not allow for interaction with MySensors directly, though. What is your ultimate plan? An ESP32 is very power hungry when on wifi, so it wouldn't work as a battery-powered device very well. They're pretty cheap, and easy to get a hold of, so if you have them plugged into mains power then you could use them alongside a MySensors network. Maybe with something like Home Assistant controlling both and providing a link from one to the other if needed? Maybe you haven't been getting much interaction here because it doesn't fit very well with MySensors. I've seen your previous posts, but since I haven't tried to connect any ESP32 devices to the network, I didn't have any input for you. (I prefer my backhaul to be wired, so the ESP32 wifi was a negative, in my book.) I mean, I have nothing against ESP32 for other things, but for me it has no place in the MySensors network at all.

  @mrmuszynski Hi, there are some setters for message payload types but none for type String, see: Message manipulation. You need to convert the resulting String into const char* like this: send(msg.set(("string " + String(expectedScratchpadValues)).c_str())); But in general I would try to avoid usage of the String data type, especially for the use case in your code example.   My repo depends on hardkernel's linux kernel, esp. 4.9.277. It won't work with kernels >4.9 for Odroid N2, because the developers left GPIO subsystem down (no IRQs, no /dev/gpiomem), and it only works partially...

  @evb Still haven't had a chance to look at your PR, sorry. Yes, the database tends to grow I have about 80MB after a year of use. Just added a function to delete all messages older than, say, a year.

  I have two Dooya motors DT82TN with a DC2760 remote control, which is 433MHz. After a lot of investigations and experiments, I got them working with Domoticz (running on a Raspberry Pi), using the following: A Broadlink RM2 (RM Pro+) which supports 433MHz. The official Broadlink app is cloudbased and can "learn" the codes to operate the Dooya, but I abandoned this since I want integration with my domotica system, not just another app on my phone. The software at https://github.com/mjg59/python-broadlink works with Broadlink devices, but does not integrate well with the RM2. So, I only use this for my thermostat, not for the Dooya curtains. The "official" Domoticz plugin described at https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Plugins/BroadlinkRM2.html is an old version, that is not supported any more - as stated at the top of the page. The "zak45" Domoticz plugin that works is described at https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=33223#p251517 to be downloaded at zak45's Nextcloud drive: https://synnas.publicvm.com:4430/s/Czn9r8G8QwrZ7ji This latter plugin is not easy to use, and has special added webpages to Domoticz. It is however able to use the RM2 to "learn" IR and RF codes from the UI of Domoticz. However, there is a bug due to which the learning of RF codes does not work from the UI. I was able to use the command line on the RaspberryPi with the above given plugins to detect Broadlink devices. And this way, I could also learn the 4 RF codes I needed for my 2 curtains: open/close for each. This gave me the code as some numbers, which I stored in a text file. Since the IR learning works, I used this to learn 4 commands, and then looked where these codes were stored on the Raspberry, and replaced them with the RF codes. This was easy. Just a tip: I used Dolphin with fish://raspberrypi/ to browse and edit the files on the Raspberry from my desktop PC.

  @adamf663 sorry for delay! I am focusing on mostly software at the moment. So nothing to show so far i'll be posting as soon as the project moves forward again please read on !!! @MasMat thanks a lot for your suggestions. As suggested first it is more than probably a case of rights/permissions. There are many ways to launch a script at startup but in my case some deamons were started via "root" and some others via "user". As stated before, all worked perfectly when logged under "user" (pi). So, to summarise: rc.local didn't work crontab didn't work .bashrc didn't work These might work in the end but i'm not brainy enought to get to it. Then came "systemctl" ! First create a .service file $ sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/doorbell.service [Unit] Description=My test service After=multi-user.target [Service] Type=simple Restart=always ExecStart=/usr/bin/python /home/pi/doorbell02.py [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target #WantedBy=default.target -> test this if previous doesn't work Reload all daemons to check if your new .service file is ok Then allow your new service file to be loaded at boot Last, check if loading worked. If status returns "active" then it's a win $ sudo systemctl daemon-reload $ sudo systemctl --user enable doorbell.service $ sudo systemctl --user start doorbell.service $ systemctl --user is-active doorbell.service Last step: systemctl loads these services at loggin by default (as in : enter user and password). I need it to start automaticaly with no human input. systelctl offers a way to load services without loggin for a given user : $ loginctl user-status pi Check status with $ loginctl user-status pi If status returns "linger: yes" then it's (once again) a win Thanks again @MasMat for suggesting paths to investigate That's it for now, i'll be back on the hardware point of view next time !

  Hello, First of all I am a basic diy person so not much experience with electronics other than basic relays, some soldering and basic use of multi-meter. I have a brk smoke detectors throughout house and would like to trigger house alarm as it is connected to service that notifies me over the phone. I have looked online for information and stumbled on your video that looked similar to my needs but more so with Edward Cheung. Please advise where best to post this message as I think it may not be appropriate on mysensors.org. Initially I was thinking of using brk relay but it is rated for 120V AC, I am based in europe with 240V AC, I do not need to power anything with AC and I want it to work when the power is down as both smoke detectors and house alarm operate on batteries. I purchased the breadboard, 1k and 330 ohm resistors and 2 x PC817 4pin optocouplers without checking if my alarm is supporting normally open zones, it has normally closed options 4k7 resistor end of line and 2k2 resistor end of line and basic normally closed (breaking the circuit triggers alarm). Alarm zone is a 5 v DC circuit. Question: Any advice on how to get output pins to stay constantly closed and change state when alarm is triggered, should I buy some other optocoupler with 6 pins that has ability to change output contacts when energized or any other approach? Take a look at some of the projects on OpenHardware.io https://www.openhardware.io/explore It will give you many examples of different sensor projects. Most projects just do one thing. Temperature and Humidity or motion are the most common. A few do use many of the sensors you want. See Berk's https://www.openhardware.io/view/8259/Air-quality-and-weather-forecast-sensor for example. The MySensors framework is supported by Home Assistant. Battery or wire power will depend mostly on the power consumption of you sensors. Many can be quite low power and run for years on batteries. This is common topic of discussion in the forums. If you read through the "Getting Started" and "Build" sections on the MySensors site, you will get a lot of information and ideas about how to build the sensor you described.

  @zebmina did you attach an antenna to both the transmitter and the receiver? Also, your radios are very close together, so the receiver might saturate (but that would be the next hurdle, first you need to receive something)

  Hi, this is an awesome project and after waiting for weeks to get all parts, I finally started building. The problem I am facing is that it seems that I cannot get the board working if I use such a 8-pin connector socket. I am generally OK with NOT using such a socket for sensors that "go into production" but for some sensors where space is not an issue or for boards which I want to use for testing different NRF24s etc, I would like to make the socket work. Does anybody have any tipps on how to make the radio reliably work with a socket? That would be awesome!

  @korttoma I set up a pir node with promini and nrf24l01+ about 6 weeks ago running on 2xAAA batterues. No false triggers yet and it detects many movements each day. Battery level is still 100% (3V) so it is possible to do this. Maybe something else is affecting your previous test, like situation, distance or interfereing signals? But you have another solution that mighte well be useful to someone else with the issues you faced. Good of you to share it.

  @skywatch Ah, and you are right about the LED. I re-designed the circuitry a while ago to accommodate a RFM69 on the PCB back side, and meanwhile forgot the fact that my LED is now connected to Atmega328‘s port D3 now. For the serial function test it does not make a difference, however.

  The code I posted is the raw code for the zero-cross dimmer. When I had tried to merge the "dimmer with rotary encoder" sketch and the zero-cross code I had wired it up with the ZC pin as 2 and the PWM pin on 3. Encoder was wired: SW pin on 4, CLK pin on 5 and CE pin on 6. 7/8/A2 were used for status LED's. I was running it with an older NANO with the 328.

  @NeverDie Thx for appreciating the work done. There will also be an open source part in the future. When and how extensive the open source part will be, remains to be seen. The release of certain information (block diagram, ..., in this post) is related to those open source parts. There are some OBD solutions, however most of them (in my experience) give back low frequency data put by the car manufacturer on the OBD-bus (CAN, ...). Therefore transients evolving directly from the battery could only be recorded if the manufacturer sends those data accordingly on the bus. Due to the small bandwidth(also because of other car data that have to be sent, ...), such battery data are sent more often once per second or less. Fast battery events (i.e. cranking events, ...) are therefore imperceptible. Unless the manufacturer processes the fast events and then sends them (once per second or less), which is very unlikely if the manufacturer does not market this feature itself. Third parties devices for high frequency sensing costs several hundreds dollars. In my experience, important battery states (especially the fast ones) are recorded by measuring and processing corresponding data directly on the battery. I agree with you about the limits related to the communication over Bluetooth. But i think Bluetooth 5.0 will improve a lot.   @Yveaux Thanks! I've had one of the temp sensors out for two seasons and i haven't noticed any brittle tendecies. The prinouts are covered in a few layers of sparypaint so the colors still look great (as i imagine they wouldn't if not painted). But printing in ABS is of course the safest route to take.

  @joaoabs yes that looks fine. Keep the non-shielded part of the cable as short as possible, but you’ve already done a great job so I think it would be hard to make it shorter. Personally I would probably have chosen to solder a pigtail (with sma contact) to the rfm module, to make it possible to switch to a different antenna/coax cable without soldering. But each connector introduces loss, so soldering might be the best choice.

  Just a follow-up 2 years later... Still no water incidents and the simple watersensor still looks surprisingly good! A very satisfying feeling for the third year in a row to just fill the bucket with water and plug it in and it just works The biggest problem now is that it's become harder to argue with the kids that we need to get rid of the spruce tree as it loses very little needles...

  The idea is really good, I like it very much! I also like to work with 3D printers because my elder brother is producing custom pieces for cars and this is very interesting for me. Also I am designing new forms in 3D programs, so the your idea with 3D printing is great. Now I am studying pcb basics and I want to work with them as well. I saw a few videos and read a few guides and it seemed easy and interesting. Now I want to study more and invent things like this. I hope I will do something useful as your inclinometer.

  Another way is to align the header pins landing pattern in a zig-zag so as to make a temporary solderless connection held in place by the spring tension of the misaligned header pins: I've tried it and it works, but because of the wear on the through-hole plating it's not really appropriate for frequent use. For a once-and-done setup though it seems to work just fine. For instance, Ideally you'd install a wireless bootloader just once and then from then on you don't need a physical connection.

On the other hand it is useful to send the actual state periodically as it is known without remembering or if the controller started later than GW.   @ikkeT what cap did you put on the nrf? because i also did have problems with transmission and i solved it with other caps in parrallel on vcc and gnd! when on batteries: 10uf elektrolitic 0.1nf ceramic 100uf tantalum on the voltage regulator i think also before 0.1nf and a 10uf to lower the noise on the power line output what you think about that? grtz

  I completely forgot to mention that it used to make loud noises, and we had to switch it off most of the time to give our brain to rest. Once I came home and saw a lot of water around this purifier. We spent a lot of money to repair it. As a result, it went to the trash where it was supposed to be. Recently we faced another problem. A lot of giant spiders appeared in our house. We were searching for different methods online on how to get rid of them, and we found this article (spam link removed by moderator). Also, we found there another air purifier, and we ordered it straight away.

  Cool project @bsmtdweller New thread or stay in this doesn't matter much, but for people searching the forum (or their favorite search engine) in the future, I think a new thread with a subject containing "incubator" will be more clear. I would build it with multiple nodes. Smaller chunks of code, easier wiring, easier to isolate individual parts which helps tremendously when troubleshooting, easer to reuse code for one node in case you (or someone else) want to expand the project later, easier to remove a part if you (or someone else) don't need it. The non-mysensors code is more important, so I would start with that, but make sure all parameters that you want to be able to change are stored in variables and not hardcoded. Then add the MySensors code to update the values of the variables. The autonomy will be hard. Normally I would prefer to have all logic in the controller, since a controller has much better ways to program and debug stuff. Not fun to write - and maintain - in C with very rudamentary debugging tools. But as you say, being reliant on having Domoticz working all the time might not be good. Having the system fail gracefully will be a challenge. A start could be to search the forum for MY_TRANSPORT_WAIT_READY_MS to see what others have done. And maybe - to make the system as reliable as possible - you should add everything to a single node instead of splitting it up into multiple nodes.

  @TRS-80 I have similar thoughts for a controller for my heater (hot water radiators with an oil boiler and 4 zones). For 1 and 2, I realized I could wire my node into the zone controller. It has a common, so I can derive the node power from the controller. Since it works over radio, it doesn't have to be where the old thermostat was. I have temperature sensors in all the rooms. The node controls 4 solid state relays that are wired in parallel with the existing zone thermostats. That helps with 5. The idea was to set the conventional thermostats at a low value. Then if my node failed, at least the old thermostats would kick the heater on before the pipes started to freeze. Also as a fail safe, if the node has the heat on and doesn't hear from the controller periodically, it will shut off. Still working on that part. As for controlling it, there is a domoticz plug in here: https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/Plugins/Smart_Virtual_Thermostat.html It only works for heat, but the underlying code is pretty straight forward, and it lets you average sensors. There might be something there you can adopt. I ran it with a MySensors modified space heater all last winter and it worked well. Unfortunately, something kept killing the radio on my node, maybe a spike from zone controller relays. I haven't sorted it out yet, so the heater thermostat remains a work in progress.

  @adds666 I am still in "testing mode". I had some problems with the node, it stoped receiving messages but did always work with the button. Yesterday i built a new node and uploaded the sketch and it seems to work better. Here is the sketch i use, I changed the pin for the button due to missing digital pins on my pcb. And I am back on using digital pins for the stepper driver for the same reason. I greyed out buttonpin 2. I don't think it is needed. I also greyed out the heartbeat-part as I had problems. Just for testing.   I found this old thread and since I have a Vallox machine it's interesting. RS485 is new to me but MySensors isn't. Can I have a node like this described by Heinz parallel with the "mickey mouse"-display? Using the display's connector? Or is it one or the other? I'd feel better having both (manual display&buttons and connection to MySensors=>Domoticz, in my case).

  @OliverDog You may have a look at https://github.com/sidoh/esp8266_milight_hub. It uses basically the same hardware as a normal MySensors Wifi-GW and is able to receive and send (most) of the MiLight-Codes. I'm using the MQTT interface offered by the hub not only to translate MiLight-V5-protocol type of remote codes not only to control V4-protocol type of rgbw bulbs (which seems to be close to your request), but also to set shutter levels or even control my mpd... Obviously, this nees some additional coding on controller side (FHEM in my case).

  @Sven-0 Fun to see this old topic again. And also the coincidence, since my visits here have been rare for a long time. Anyway, I'm running a few slimnodes since the beginning and have both good and bad experiences. In general, the battery lifetime is your least concern. Instead I have had issues with sensors, sensitivity, switch contact corrosion, mechanical robustness, wifi interference, repaeter, gateway, controller, waf, kids, animals, etc, etc. Regarding this particular PIR slimnode it's very stable, but it is not universal for every situation due to the limited range and missing sinsitivity adjustment. E.g I can't use it too near my basement windows due to the moving cold air. And in my living room I have sun reflections to deal with. I suggest you start by building a testnode to check if it works for your conditions. A recent PIR-slimnode battery life example; My hallway one died last week after 33 months and around 6000 trips/month.

  @IronFelix I would not combine so many inputs and outputs in one sketch. But I think if there is enough memory for variables ; then it is possible to go for sensing (step by step) for a combination of sensors. Similarly for buttons, actuators, use a separate hardware.

  Sorry, I can't help you with EasyEDA. I'm familiar with EAGLE and KiCAD only. Maybe I've been too ambiguous or you misunderstood what I wrote earlier. I suggested to add 100 nF (Nanofarad; 100 nF = 0.1 µF) ceramic capacitors to every VCC/GND pair, but you have added 100 µF (Microfarad) electrolytic capacitors in your schematic. With "every VCC/GND pair" I was referring to the ATmega only, which has multiple VCC/GND pins (pins 7+8 and 20+22 for the THT package you are using), not to every device / module in your circuit. Change C1, C3 and C3 to 100 nF ceramic and add 100 µF electrolytic as a buffer. You can remove C2. You are now pulling RESET low, which means you are holding the MCU in a reset state forever. Pull it high to VCC instead. If you are going to use a voltage divider to measure the battery voltage, you have to read the voltage in between the two resistors. Refer to the Measuring and Reporting Battery Level section in the Battery Powered Sensors guide for the proper setup. You could also measure the voltage without external hardware if you want to keep it minimal. Here's an example sketch. Besides that, I highly suggest you build your circuit on a breadboard or similar first and test it before you order your designed PCB.

  @hek we have plenty of hydro alcoholic gel available here in Vietnam, and they all contain ethanol and not IPA, which is a skin irritant and doesn't seem to be a good idea to use for hand sanitizer as you need high concentration for alcohol to be efficient on the virus. You should change the recipe of your "quick and easy" version, to use ethanol as recommended by WHO. @NeverDie For the survival of the virus new studies show a survival up to 3 days on some surfaces like inox. But that's the best case scenario for the virus, on most surfaces and in most conditions it seems it will just die in a matter of hours.   @mfalkvidd I was to quick, it was working so I used it to solder a PCB. That did not work, so tested again on a breadboard. Now it did not work. So I tried: 4.7 22 33k 47 47+22 Both on the breadboard and directly connected, not with power from the batteries and from the arduino, but it not work. He never gets a reply back. So it has worked, but know it doesn’t, when I connect a stable powersupply it works. What else should I try?

  Finally I've solved. I'm still using UIPEthernet sincee my problem was the use of DHT library (last rev) with UIPEhernet lib. I was having a restart of teh ETH port each time I was reading Temp/hum. I've changed into SimpleDHT lib and now it's working fine. I'm using a mix of W5100 and ENC28J60.

  @Anthalas CO2 concentration at the fermentation trap outlet could work once you calibrate it, but a simpler method would be listening or watching for bubbles passing in a minute or less, hear them check again tomorrow or in 12 hours, hear none call ET, it's party time? I used to open the cupboard and look, but that was in the days of black and white when caves were caves, but still a tried and tested technique if it doesn't work

  @skywatch Thnaks! The main goal of this board is to offer a simple way to build any kind (RFM69 and NRF24 support, MYSX connector) of compact battery powered node. Today I have finished the first node based on this board: a door window sensor (reed switch). If someone is interested, here the detailed build instructions. The next node based on this board will be a soil moisture sensor!

  I had assumed a pressure cooker would have to be made out of metal, but I see you can buy plastic pressure cookers on Amazon for even just $10. With that you could get the RF out no problem. That makes the whole problem much easier.

  I have tried Domoticz, Mozilla WebThings and Home Assistant. So far the best is Home Assistant, it has many integrations and a nice UI. If you want to be able to access it outsite your network I recommend ZeroTier (had many issues trying thru the router).

  Long story short, try 433.55 MHz I tried for years to received my Chacon Ecowatt 800 (a rebranded Efergy 2 classic) data. I knew the frequency wasn't 433.92 MHz. I lastly opened transmitter case to find which RF chip was used ... but I didn't get any datasheet for the "A71C03AUF" I found On last resort, I sought a signal on all "433.92MHz" ISM band (433.05~434.79 MHz, with sdr-sharp). I did find something centered on 433.51 (433.47 and 433.56, FSK?) MHz. As for Somfy stuff (which uses 433.42 MHz), many generic receiver can't work with those *special" 433MHz frequencies. In the end, I tested this new frequency using rtl-433 and guess what, there's a working Efergy module ! Moreover, I did not make a great discover, 433.55MHz is well precised in the "efergy_e2_classic.c" module comments... RFM69 or NRF24L01 may be frequency ajustable!

  What Chinese are doing with this sensor which is used in a handheld air quality meters like this: https://a.aliexpress.com/_UCY55 is this -> Li-Ion battery 3000-4000mAh This would last hours. Not days. Unless you want to use a car battery, I do not think there is a portable pm25 monitor able to work days without recharging.

  I have been researching controlling LEDs and this seems one of the better threads on MySensors with links to all the relevant related projects (this @maghac OP one for analog RGB, @LastSamurai RGBW alternative, @dmonty for digital, @ikkeT and others' improvements, and finally @Jim-de-Groot latest board; sorry if I left anyone out). Thanks to everyone for sharing your work! So I will ask here a variation of what I I asked @LastSamurai in his thread: Are all of you still using these MySensors based nodes? Because I initially started thinking to use a MySensors based solution because I thought Wi-Fi based ones (although arguably easier, cheaper) like MagicHome controllers would be "too slow" but @LastSamurai seemed to state that he changed from MySensors because it was "too slow" in responding. Or maybe the reasons are not speed / response time related? Maybe you guys didn't like that interface? Or maybe they were not as readily and cheaply available back when this post began (may 2017)? Or maybe people just like to tinker (I get it, some times I do too)? But right now I am thinking about ordering some of those MagicHome devices just to play around with, they are only few dollars each on AliExpress instead of dorking around ordering boards, figuring out correct mosfets to use, implementing software, etc... What am I missing here? I am not trying to be contrary! I honestly want to know!

I run it for one year and it runs very good with no issues...

  @alex_the_techy I have had an A8 for just over 2 1/2 years now and it has been a relatively good entry level printer. Most of these entry level printers have some quirks about them, but they give you a good start into 3D printing. It does have an acrylic frame which is not quite as sturdy or durable as the aluminum extrusion frame that something like the Ender 3's or the Creality printers have. You can pick up an Ender 3 now for less than $200 US at aliexpress which is right around the same price as an A8. I would go with that over an A8 if I were to buy one these days. Many people that buy the A8 printers end up doing an AM8 frame conversion on them which basically gives you a frame similar to the Ender 3. I am not sure what the cost of the AM8 extrusion parts cost, but whatever the price is, it's too much when you can start out with the Ender 3 for around the same price as buying an A8 and you don't have to go through the hassle of the conversion, which by the way requires some 3D printed parts.

  @jasxvii Have a vague memory of coming across this error and found it linked to the library MyConfig being called, but as I went with a different sketch for that particular project did not investigate further. @mfalkvidd has considerably greater insight on the sequence of library calls, perhaps posting the sketch might help.

  There are several solutions for this kind of water reading but all are lacking something for my needs. I've been seeking for a solution which would combine best parts of different projects: https://github.com/ecsfang/WaterMeter accuracy of 0,125 litres by reading only 1 liter dial with 8 trigger points. Easy and this data would be sufficient combined with time stamps. https://github.com/jomjol/water-meter-measurement-system ESP32-CAM as camera and server running the OCR would be a lot cheaper than raspberry system. Usually someone building these have the server and really I wouldn't have any other needs for the Raspberry. Also this could be integrated ESPHome etc.? So it would be out of the box type design for ie. I'm not even sure if I describe my wishes correctly, please pardon me. Would I find someone interested enough to combine these three solutions?   @flopp Found one mistake. I wrote some Serial.print to see where in the code my problem was and I wrote in a wrong place, so the code was looping on a wrong way. When that was corrected I found out that my relay needed to get 1 when it was off, so I just changed to below and now I don't get a green light as soon as I power on the arduino #define RELAY_ON 0 #define RELAY_OFF 1

  MySensors supports Lora (RFM95), so you could have the devices talk to a controller at home. As a controller I recommend the Mozilla WebThings Gateway Less manual tinkering with config files. And yes, communicating with each other without a parent gateway is also perfectly possible. How about using sensors that are more robust than ultrasonic? There are some sensors used non-contact detection of water/gas levels, for example. if you want some GSM code, give me a shout.

  @tbowmo Thank you for your effort! Now my turn... the whole schematics of the d-diot board is available for download here! Of course I have to learn more and do some testing before implementing in the d-diot board the constant current source circuit that you suggested, but this a great option to eliminate the MP1584 (that one day may become unavailable on the market) and to lowering the cost. For the same reasons my plan is to substitute the step up module MT3608 with a boost converter circuit, made from standard passive components (like this). In any case, if someone else needs to make an universal IR remote with a Raspberry Pi, the configuration of the GPIO pins of the Raspberry is here, while the steps necessary to configure LIRC and lirc_web are here. The final results is this: Here the guides to play with the IR gateway (add a remote, clone a remote, Home Assistant integration)

  @homer Glad that it helped! But make sure that RFLink supports your Watts Clever smart plug. If you already have an Arduino Mega and an RXB6 receiver at home is quite easy and fast to verify that. Another interesting option is that you can couple the Arduino Mega with an ESP8266 and then expose the serial output over Wifi with ser2net (see here) in the ESPEasy firmware. This other project goes further and use an ESP8266 to write the serial output of the RFLink to an MQTT server. Both solutions add flexibility to the positioning of the RFLink module in your home.

  @homer This is how I do it: First download the latest Mozilla WebThings Gateway image and burn that onto an SD card. Their guide will explain how to 'burn' it onto an SD card. Insert it into the pi and boot it up. After a while you will see a new WiFi network for the gateway. Connect to it and follow the steps. You can skip the step to make a subdomain at Mozilla. Once done, open gateway.local in a browser that's on the same wifi network. You should now see the Mozilla Gateway interface. Under settings -> development enable SSH. Open a terminal window and SSH into the device. Google how to do that. For linux/mac it's something like: ssh pi@gateway.local and then enter the default password raspberry. once logged in, you have to install PHP. sudo apt-get install php5-fpm php5 -y Next, copy the Candle Manager from Github onto the Pi. git clone https://github.com/createcandle/Candle-manager.git chmod +x ./Candle-manager/start.sh ./Candle-manager/start.sh Now you should be able to go to gateway.local:8023 to see the Candle Manager. By default it comes with only one demo sketch. In the future you will be able to install a lot more. Arduino Sketches have to be properly formatted and placed in the 'sources' folder to be automatically presented in the Candle Manager interface. Examples of such sketches can be found here. Basically, the variables that you want to be modifiable via the interface have to be placed in a special section. The description at the top of the sketch will also be shown in the interface.
