MySensors Sensebender Micro 3DP Case
-
It's by far complete, but here is the first revision. There are few design errors, but the overall main case works.
Sorry about the terrible pictures..
-
Two things
- Why an extra cap on the radio? (Not using it myself in my micros from itead)
- If you place the boards at the end of the battery pack instead of the backside, wouldn't the casing be smaller then? (If I remember correctly, the sensebender is roughly the same dimensions as the end of the battery pack)
-
Just a check: does'nt the micro have a capacitor on the pcb to serve the radio? So is it really necessary to stick the huge cap on top of radio ?
-
I'm not using a cap on mine.. seems to be working fine.
is there any openings in that case? you will need some air flow to correctly monitor the temp and humidity.
nice start though. what printer do you have?
-
- The radio is from the original sensor (just transfered it to the Sensebender Micro.)
- There are small ridges, one on each side, that stop the battery housing. (can be seen in the first picture of the case)
- There are some vents in the bottom of the case, but wasn't sure if it would work. (can be seen in the first picture of the case on the bottom)
- It's a Flashforge Creator Pro.
I've change the top; got rid of the screw holes, and went with a top that has longer side walls to create a friction fit.
-
Missed one part of your question. The reason I went with the backside; I wanted a "slide in" design for the battery holder.
I'm not talented enough to create a solution that allowed that with the SBM (Sensebender Micro) on the bottom. :bowtie:
-
Nice! What is your print time? What printer do you have?
-
@DrJeff 3.25 Hours I believe.
-
@ServiceXp
Would you share the .stl file?

V2. Case is smaller, and lighter (much thinner walls) and includes mounting tabs (instead of the rear mounting holes). I also added some side ventilation holes.
-
v2 looks good.. would you guess at how much each one of those cost you to make?
-
@mvader Cost In terms of what?
Printer cost, Electricity, Time, Filament??
-
i would say filament cost.
more like if you look at how much it cost to print pictures vs have them printed. you don't take the cost of the printer into account.I've been thinking about getting into 3d printing but outside of cases for my sensors i cant think of anything i would print lol
so i was just curious, how much it would cost you to print something like that.
thanks
-
@mvader Around $1.75 in filament for 1 top and body.
-
Added a Motion Sensor Top
-
got a few print to do when I get home...
-
here is my first 3D print for the sensbender micro, printed with Arduino Materia 101 printer - STL files available if needed.
I think it is also possible to fit a motion sensor in the top - will try
-
part 2:
-
@kalle Nice.. What are you using for the battery contacts?
-
Good catch
Maybe I can build something with copper. There is a bit space to fit it in.
-
Ok, now with connected batteries without any soldering
