Raspberry Pi 3 with 64-bit quad-core SoC, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth announced for $35
-
Hello
New PI 3 has been announced according to the following link
-
About 50% faster, uses about 50% more power, same memory.
Has built in WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 (with BLE)! Uses tiny chip antenna on board, so who knows about the range. (There is an unpopulated SMA footprint, but no certification).
Most everything else is the same, for good compatibility.
Same price as the RPi 2 (which continues to be sold).

Yep. I am getting mine tomorrow. It has a new BCM2837

Is there any use for all this CPU power in home automation scope?
I struggle to find any use for them.
-
@Igor-Katkov I agree. But I like the built-in wifi, makes it possibe to place the controller more freely. And with the built-in bluetooth a serial-over-bluetooth gateway can be connected without connecting anything physically (except power).

Seriously though my Raspberry currently looks very messyAt least Wifi and Bluetooth are built-in - just need to sort out three transceivers and I am good

Speech recognition!

@Igor-Katkov Well, the possibilities are constantly changing that requires higher demands of your hardware. It depends on what you use it for and how much you will connect to it. I'm looking forward to see some neat solutions in the future

@hek Speech recognition is a fantastic idea, I've added it to my list of may be projects!
