@pansen Yes, Arduino comes with bootloader but you can change it if you want to enable OTA updates from mysensors. Sure you can drive the relays board from arduino, just check you don't exceed maximun current from the pins or the board itself (if you power it externally you shouldn't worry much)

What do expect? You can buy at least 4 or 5 for the price of an original one 😀

@tekka I will @tekka when possible. I dont have the equipment to debug all three nodes at the same time but have some ftdi adapters on the way. No worries - its not a major issue.

Also keepin mind that those cheap rs485 adapters have a 120ohm load resistor and pull up and pulldown resistors installed for the rs485 bus.. Those should only ve installed on the ends of the data bus.. So remove them from the rest of the adapters if you use more than 2.

Ah ok, well I'm very excited to see this area improve, hopefully this v2.2.0 beta is aiming for a release in the near future and is able to include the new driver and linux gateway improvements. I'll wait patiently for now ;)

@Michael-McGilton I have a rpi running hass and a mqtt broker. Check bruh automation site for tutorials how tot install. I have a serial gateway attached, but I guess you can also run the gateway directly on the rpi. Haven't tried it myself.

Thank you! I use phonechargers from renowned manufacturers. I'm nog so concerned for my 5v nodes. Planning tot rebuild them with 3.3v micro's on batteries. Now orientating on 230v switches. The relay actuator build on this site doesn't feel safe. I read relays produce heat. I'm searching for a consumer product to safely tinkering with. No 3rd party clouds, etc. Hoping someone over here has experience with the sonoff or comparable products. Tips welcome!

@Alexander-Ivanov The nrf doesn't provide a good way to get signal level. Some more info in https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/1022/nrf24l01-signal-strength-request The best approximation is to use the PingPong example.

Closing the loop: today I received the boards from pcbs.io. They look like nice boards.

@sundberg84 said in Synchronizing actions between nodes: @LastSamurai - are you using the webgui to switch? I think its rather quick using a motion detector -> light/relay. Using the gui though takes 2-3 sec. I am using both, the web ui, and a motion detector node + a rule setup in domoticz using dzVents. For the motion sensor its hard to tell how fast the reaction is though, because I don't know the exact range of it. Perhaps I'll try with a button node next, just for testing purposes. PS and the ui isn't that slow. Sometimes it takes a little longer but mostly just ~half a second.

@meanmrgreen You should use non-blocking code with millis() and if{}. Look e.g. at https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/461/motion-sensor https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/2717/repeater-node-with-sensor/12

I would probably consider some extra esd protection on the input of your arduino board. Like a series resistor and a couple of esd protection diodes Just to be on the safe side

@tekka Found it! I added a #ifndef so I do not have to change it every time I program a node (and forget at what setting it is the next time....).

Of course you could use rpi as gateway, but as personal advice I'd suggest to get some mini pro as sensor nodes and keep the Uno as the gateway or the prototype platform. The most flexible solution would be to make an mqtt ethernet gateway and use rpi as mqtt broker and controller with openhab or whatever else you like, since the mqtt in the middle allows also to have multiple controllers. I also wanted to try openhab and tried openhabian but it turned out to be too complicated, so I moved to domoticz and it was much easier to put things together.
