Thanks for your help, @LastSamurai. I'm looking for an analogue one, where the whole strip is the same colour. My next step is to decide on the hardware solution: existing specific board, or generic node + add-on board for MOSFETs (I don't see myself designing my own board - no experience).

@Dwalt said: I have not had problems with enclosures per se, but I have seen temperature differentials due to locations exposed to direct sunlight and up against thermal masses such as a external walls or internal walls with enclosed heating ducts or hot water piping. I have four sensebenders in vented enclosures mounted on interior walls and have no problem with their accuracy. They are also loosely mounted inside their enclosures which may help them avoiding picking up heat from the walls. Overall, they seem much more consistent and accurate than the several DHT or Dallas sensors I have in my system. Thanks for the reply, perhaps my issue stems from my enclosures being mostly sealed. No venting what so ever. I did a quick test of a few of my sensors, opening the boxes and letting them sit in open air and the differentials came down substantially. Will look in to adding some venting!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I have looked at DataYours, installed it last night and have done some tinkering. It looks relatively good. My hope would be for Domoticz to offer long term storage, but I would like the alternatives in the mean time. I too do not want 100 misc. plugins clogging my Vera, however with the few I currently have, things seem to be running quite well. I'll check in to plot.ly, thanks again fellas!

for a standard 220V appliance cord with 0.75mm2 (square mm) you have a resistance of 1 ohm for each 43m for 20 feet (6.1 meters), the resistance is 0.142 ohm, with 5A load, you have a drop of 0.7V.. for 8 feet (2.5m) the resistance is 0.06ohm, again with 5A load, you have a drop of 0.3V So only 0.4V in difference... / Thomas

@NotYetRated I've been doing the same stuff, creating multi-sensors, making mistakes like that are part of it. I'll post some when I'm back. Fun stuff.

@NotYetRated Biggest difference I see is the USB FTDI onboard, good if your are connecting to a vera or something needing the comms. If it is going to be purely a sensor node, I don't see why u need this. The pro mini has 5v and 3.3v variations, or look for switchable ones, pro mini enhancements. If you are frequently reprogramming it, then easier with the nano, I'm fine using a separate ftdi board for programming purposes.

@NotYetRated Sounds doable. And you can probably reuse the same power pulse meter sketch.

@hek Yes SNMP is usually used in server context, but as Vera is IP device there is no reason why it would not serve the data also over SNMP as it is so simple. And the monitoring tools are ready-made and robust. Of course this may be that "when you have a hammer in hand everything looks like a nail" - as they say..
