Wrote the 1st 3 bytes (1,0,1) to the new Nano sensor board and uploaded the sensor sketch. Was recognized as sensor id 1, same as previous UNO board which was the desired result. Probably could have gotten the same result by only writing the number 1 (the sensor-id) to the first byte or calling gw.begin() with the sensor-id set to 1.

@TroyF The node device contains the information related to the Arduino-node such as battery level, library version and in the case of relaying nodes a clear button for relay information. On vera you cannot modify or add information to the standard devices.

@Fwessels OpenHAB does currently not deal with assigning node IDs. I guess it is possible using the serial binding as I have seen described in another thread, but I don't think anyone has implemented it yet. I have just finished porting one of the mqtt scripts to work with a serial connection as well as the existing socket interface, and am currently thinking of extending this (assuming that the author thinks it's a good idea) to assign node IDs. I think this should be relatively easy to implement, in which case that Perl script will be all you need between MySensors, a mqtt broker and openhab. By the way, I'm running openhab on a five-year-year-old Intel platform running ubuntu server. It starts up in 10 to 15 seconds and is a more than powerful enough platform to handle every conceivable home automation need I can think of. And it was free since it was just lying around doing nothing. Okay, there is some noise and higher than necessary power consumption, but in a big house in Norway that is not a problem :-)

Cool... Yep I "mysensored" my heater largely because it was going to be an interesting exercise. And its so much nicer coming home to a warm house! Good luck and enjoy.

I'm still playing with my setup. Still have a few months before my house is completed. I should have a truck load of ardunio parts on my desk at work on Monday so should be able to start tinkering with UI7. :)

@tbully Uno has exactly the same MCU as pro mini. Just a large package

@clippermiami Good idea, but this is not so simple as we use the standard Vera devices (UI is not extendable). A trim variable-value must then be added dynamically when a device is created and handled each time a value come in (only accessible through the advanced-tab). Some sensors have multiple values (e.g. battery level, humidity) which complicates things.

@hek my solution was to divide by 100 to get millibars and I use that for a while. Once I was shown how to get 2 places past the decimal I add a divisor for millibars to inches of Mercury, 33.86...... I also added an adjustment factor to get it to the actual local value. In my case I added "-101" millionaires to get the correct local metric value and then applied the metric to imperial divisor. Now I get display values such as 30.02, today's reading at the local GA airport a few miles from me. Thanks to everyone

After thinking about it and looking at the lock installation guide i think the best way to detect the lock status would be to create a battery powered door/window sensor. There looks to be plenty of space inside the lock to place a mini and i may be able to piggy back onto the door battery power.

@hek said: http://www.mysensors.org/build/debug#enabling-debug-logging I had to clear the eprom and reprogram. Now it's working again. One of the times I was trying to add the sensor without the radio plugged in. My bad :-S

I commented out the avr/progmem.h include line and it compiled correctly and appears to be working now plugged back into the Vera USB port.

@hek Yes SNMP is usually used in server context, but as Vera is IP device there is no reason why it would not serve the data also over SNMP as it is so simple. And the monitoring tools are ready-made and robust. Of course this may be that "when you have a hammer in hand everything looks like a nail" - as they say.. :-)
