💬 MDMSNode "Power"

Is there any chance we could see the .brd file or at least give us some sort of dimensions for the physical product here.
Thanks

This is pcb size picture:
And this is enclosure link.

Awesome, might be beneficial to add to the openhardware description too.
Thanks.
-
@Samuel235 I agree, it will be done.
-
@kalina - Perfect, I notice you have published design files for the rest of your designs but not this. Can't help but wonder why....
-
@Samuel235 Because I have already found mistake with ACS711 connection... i will upload source files later, don't worry
-
@kalina I Look forward to seeing the files
Do you design your boards to a certain sizing to fit in certain containers/enclosures or do you just size your boards according to the contained hardware?
I've recently noticed that there isn't much price difference from say a 50 x 50mm to a 100 x 100mm board. When i started to get boards made, there were 50 x 50mm prototyping board packages that were much cheaper than the 100mm counterparts. This opens up a much more interesting scope for products made here now.
-
@Samuel235 Firstly I choose the type of device that I want to design, then I look for suitable enclosure. Further work involves the placement of everything in the enclosure. In addition to that, I always use 3D modeling for appreciating the ability to do the task.
-
@kalina - It's always nice to see how other people work
Thank you for sharing your methods.
-
I have received pcbs and i am waiting for components now for device testing.
PCBWAY.com sent me pcbs in less than 2 weeks, as always super quality, thanks to them!
-
@kalina - I can't recommend PCBWay.com enough to people considering their price point, they're pretty high quality. Hope to see the tests completed without issue for you

Thanks! But for the first release it sounds extremely optimistic :bowtie:
-
@kalina - We can be positive
-
Luckily, the device has started up without problems. Yesterday I tested it, even the kettle worked through the device (9A). Now I can share the source files of the project (already are refreshed).
-
@kalina - I knew you could do it o.O
-
@kalina what is the purpose of the vias on the AC traces? Thermal relief from the components on the other side?
-
@sundberg84, vias connect the AC traces on the TOP and BOT layers (see picture). This was done for reduce resistance of the conductors and distribute the heat caused by the flow of large currents through them.
-
Kalina,
What CAD program are you using for this project? The board file does not seem to be Eagle or KiCad.

I use Altium Designer.

hello have you a sample program to try MDMSNode power
thank you

Hi @lagrosso69. Do you mean a sketch? Did you order pcb and solder MDMSNode "Power" by yourself?
-
@kalina no i bought your mdmsnode by ebay and i would love to try it here
-
@lagrosso69
OK, the MDMSNode "Power" is selling with a programmed bootloader and a sketch inside.
-
Hi@kalina ok thank you
-
would it be possible to have the ACS711 sketch ???
-
@sindrome73 Of course, yes. It's a matter of time. I have a lot of tasks at work and I can't do this right now.
-
thanks .... I wait because I do not know how to use it
-
Hi, if you have a minute of memories of me ???
-
@sindrome73 Hi, time for what?
-
for a sketch piece where the ASC711 is used. because I would like to use it for a similar project, but I do not know how to use it to have a reading for AC. so since you used an asc711 in your project, I thought you could help me ....
Thanks 10000
-
@sindrome73 OK, but it could be in 1-2 weeks, as i wrote earlier, i very busy now...
-
Ah.... Ok
