  @carlyler thanks for the explanation. That's an interesting way of charging for electricity... The "virtual sensor" had me a little confused as it is also used to create real virtual devices in Domoticz. I think you handled it the royal way. Although you could argue that the "calculation" should take place in the controller. Have fun and when you designed a way to lower your electricity bill let me know

  Well, I cant seem to find a solution to getting the total water volume from my sensor to Domoticz. Thinking about Plan B, is it possible to get the virtual dimmer percentage back to my node? Then I could do the comparison there, where I have total water volume.

  @Dave-Dan from what I read, you must first update the GW and then nodes. In my case, after changing the GW, I couldn't properly control my nodes with domoticz. Then i upgraded my sensorsand everything went good and smooth

  I am using 1.5.1 and it seems to be worse to have Serial GW than Ethernet GW. After I changed to Serial GW I got lots of not reporting Nodes. I change from Ethernet GW to Serial GW around 2016-07-27 16:00 I only had a few not reporting before change and after change I have much more not reporting nodes Before After

  @AWI Thanks for your reply and tips to a beginner. I experimented with a couple of things in the sketch and after a little digging I seem to have got it working. The problem seem to be that if the values sent to the gateway is not in the correct format it wont work. If I send just one value in integer it works. But if I send alla three values as integer it stops working. If I send all three as "double" with two decimals it works as it should.   @Dringie As @AWI pointed out, the V_TEXT variable and S_INFO sensor type have not been implemented until version 2.0. I now havemy "Garage door position object that shows me the current state of the door as one of {Open, Closed, Opening, Closing, Obstruction}. As for posting the code, I will do that in another thread. I have a thread started under the Hardware section of the forum called "Automate garage door".   @Jasper-van-Winden if your sketch uses gw.begin(); the nodes will get nodeID from Domoticz (. They should be visible in Setup>Devices in Domoticz. If you have a quite new version of Domoticz (not sure when this was added but it is available in 3.4834) you can also see them if you click "Setup" on your Gateway on the Hardware page. See pictures below. Note: Sensors will need to both present themselves AND send the first value before they show up in Domoticz. Seeing st=fail in your log means that the node was unable to successfully send the message. That is usually a power or range issue. See https://forum.mysensors.org/topic/666/debug-faq-and-how-ask-for-help for information on how to read the serial debug log and how to troubleshoot power and range issues. See starting up the library on https://www.mysensors.org/download/sensor_api_15 for information on how to manually set node ID if you prefer that. I let Domoticz hand out nodeID for all my sensors.

  So I found that GPIO pins 6, 8 and 10 were /dev/ttyS3. I used the link from @mfalkvidd and did the symbolic link and changed the /etc/rc.local file and I now have everything working in Domoticz on /dev/ttyUSB30. I cannot seem to see the device in CuteCom, but if I need to debug in there I can do it on /dev/ttyS3. Thanks for the help guys. you are great.

  Yes - you are right. I have now done a whole series of tests, where I created nodes in different configurations, and read the debug information. It is not the present() is I was thinking, that creates the node in the controller. At the Domoticz forum, gizmocuz said that it does not matter what comes first - present() or sendSketchInfo(). So the issue about creating nodes in a consistent way are not related to this. So far so good... Last evening I tried the stable version 1.5.4. I created ten 100% identical nodes i an row, without any errors. It could be that there are still some issues with the v2 development version, or that the new version are handled differently, and that is not implemented in Domoticz yet. It seems that I have to go with 1.5.4 for now, and wait until v.2 are released and these issues are sorted out between MySensors and Domoticz. Thanks for the feedback! Br Lemme

  I read about blocky for domoticz. It looks easy but my first steps are not so easy. I opened in "more options" the option "events", in events I select a "Control" (if/Do), also a "Logic" (>-), a "device " (temperature). In this beginning fase I am not able to connect temp device to the Logic. Anybody recognize this?

  @Nca78 I have not seen your sketch, but assuming you have a standard scene controller sketch, there will be new switches coming up in Domoticz under "Devices" as soon as the connection is made. Say, you have four switches and you can switch them on/off. How do you switch a light in the living room then? One of the ways to do that is to have a Blockly script stating if Switch 1(scene controller) is on, switch on the living room light, if Switch 1 (scene controller) is off, switch off the living room light.

  @NotTooTechy from your text I read that the the equipment needs some special precautions related to timing. From my perspective you should not use the controller to handle that, but do it local in firmware (MyS node). Domoticz is perfectly capable of handling very specific algorithms in lua. Certainly more straightforward than programming it in Pascal. Though it can be more fun to build you own controller if you are into it Domoticz "calls home" to check for updates. No secrets to what it is doing, the whole source is on git.

  Thanks, my mistake, did not have the things configured correctly. I now have three devices visible. Two are shown correctly, the first as Light (relays) and the other Temp/Humidity (DHT) but the Gateway is showing as "Temp" but I guess I can ignore that. I will start a new thread on what I am trying to do now that the three Arduinos are all visible in Domoticz.

  @TheoL I tested everything again tonight and did some troubleshooting using the default motion sketch which worked. What i ascertained is that my sketch was setting the motion sensor active but then never sending a signal to say that the sensor was no longer active. I'll be honest that i couldn't see the default sketch doing this either(unless it does this via an interrupt when it goes from active to inactive) but i modified my program so that it now sends a notification that the sensor is no longer tripped which solved that issue. I also put a 10 second delay in as the lowest setting i could set on the sensor was 5 seconds or so which meant my sketch spammed domoticz that it was tripped. With the delay it sends a message to domoticz once now, waits 10 seconds and then sends that it's no longer tripped. With this I've been able to enable the domoticz control so that it will turn the relevant light on for 1 min at %75 if motion is detected. The only issue i've ran into is if i've already got the light set to say %20 which i like to do after sunset then when the light gets enabled for 1 min domoticz doesn't seen to turn it off.

  @timropp my philosophy is that Home Automation should be just home automation. All other add-on's need their own solution. A raspberry Pi (I use a 2) with a Razberry and Domoticz will do. Move over the other logic to the WHS and use MQtt to connect them. But that's the way I see things.

  Eat! Sketch name is only sent when the node presents itself, so you might need to reset all nodes if you want that field populated right away. Might be the same for child name.

  @hek I would like to control the sending of this information just like sending sensor data. A "memory" sensor if you will. On Domoticz (or controller) side this needs to be possible. But I beleive this is already the case for Domoticz as I have logging of the cpu use and memory/storage use of the motherboard on which Domoticz runs (a Raspberry Pi 2 in my case). I will do some digging in Rob's code to find the datatypes used.

  The Serial gateway is the most simple solution, less can go wrong (software/hardware wise). So if the location of the gateway in your house is good, just use it and don't bother with the Ethernet variant.

  @flopp Thanks for that, yes I noticed your thread somewhere and I was delighted to see gizmocuz working on your issue. Unfortunately the changes made broke my workaround hack. It just means I need to look for a more conventional solution that does not include modifying cpp files. What I will do is re-code my mysensor nodes to use other variables such as V_WATTS etc rather than V_VAR1, VAR2 etc.

  @sundberg84 Yes, thank you. I have just reflashed to another sd card hoping that it runs fine now (and it does for now). I will check the domoticz version later. I am currently running 2.3530, although I don't know if thats the same one as before the crash. I just did not know what else to do when I cound't reach the pi via ssh^^ Bad idea I guess.

  Yes, I have seen that. If I restart Domoticz and restart Node it receives Temp and Baro, create 2 new items named Temp and Baro. But after this I never get any new values not for TempHumbaro or the 2 new items, Temp and Baro. But if it starts to work after x hours maybe I can live with that.

  I can see it in my gateway. I only send 1 from my node and then use a timer in Domoticz. Thanks @sundberg84 i will try to change to send 1 and 0. I have change my node and you was right. When you send both 1 and 0 then it worked.

  Lately I begun to face the same issue. I have my GW in a fixed place on my desk and I have two nodes for testing. The first one find the parent at once, and the second one doesn't. I retry resetting both and again the behavior is repeated. THen I tried moving the wires of the GW several times and suddenly the second one begun working. Don't really know what is this but this happened twice this week

  Ok, solved it myself. V_LOCK_STATUS is wrong in this case. The expected subtype for S_DOOR is V_TRIPPED. Changed it in the sketch and everything works as expected.

  @ansh it's the cheapest diy kit. I found it great and fun. If you want a more commercial product I think rfxcom is the biggest. Check so your 433mhz components are supported before you buy.

  I can confirm that the mysensors "adapter" for domoticz does not update anything for a sensor if the value has not changed - including last seen time. There has been a bit of a discussion about it and I have a bug and feature request in for it to be a configurable choice for the user - but as it stands - if no change in value then update is ignored. I modified the mysensors adapter code to always update - even if values haven't changed - but that isn't really a long term solution since it gets overwritten on every update. https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=9272

  Today I had the same experiance with the ESP8266 gateway. Relay sensor and temp sensor working ok but the binary switch sensor did not work. It was correctly added in Domoticz but no status changes. When searching I found this post and build a quick and dirty USB gateway using an arduino Nano, plugged it in my Raspberry PI that runs Domoticz and bingo, it works ! So thanks for your post. One thing I did see in the telnet session to the ESP gateway, there were long numbers (6 digits I believe) at the end of the message were there should be a 0 or 1, indicating the status of the input. The gateway did not crash. Looks like a bug in the ESP gateway.

  @Johnny-B-Good No positioning yet, only open / close functionality. But as I just wrote in an earlier post today, there is an encoder available, that the original controller is using to determine positioning, I could probably use the same encoder in my arduino addon hack. However, I need to get a new motor unit, as I have destroyed one by accident.. (I have two ports with separate openers attached. One is working at the moment with mysensors integration, while the other is completely dead due to over voltage on the 5V logic)

  @sundberg84 I cleared the Eeprom from both gateway and sensor, then set the V_VAR2 on the sensor on a start value for example 5555 I changed the sketch not to request any values from the gateway When the sensor gets it's first reading it's registered in Domoticz with the value of 5556 ( 5555 + first reading of 1 ) Now I have to questions: After the first reading ( 5556 ) is send to Domoticz I can change the sketch back to where it requests the reading form the gateway ? But if the sensor for example quits working for a week, then I have to change the V_VAR2 on the sensor again, which is not very handy ? Thanks for the help !! Alex

  @Anticimex As this is an issue with getting secure messages through the MySensors network to a secure controller i hope its in the pipeline for revision. I would love to see this resolved as i believe secure messages through MySensors would open up a huge potential for the MySensor project to grow rapidly.

  @TEStevens This is two separate nodes, correct? As I understand what you described: you have a 4-relay node and you have a node with four buttons and four lights, are these LEDs on the node or switched lights? If this is a separate node from the relays, I would use S_SCENE_CONTROLLER for the buttons and S_LIGHT for the LEDs and use logic on your controller to send V_LIGHT commands to both the LEDs on the button node and to the relay node when a scene is switched 'on' or 'off' from any of your proposed "button controllers".

  no, i've got a capacitor bridging the NRF module Power feed too to stabilise the power to that. I'll keep an eye on the ser2net feed and see if there anything untoward happening!

  Hello, Everything is OK. It was my mistake. I did not do clear EPROM properly... so I ended up with the repeater and the node with the same nodeID which I hard coded. That is why repeater ACK was accepted as node ACK. All work great.

  i'm running v2.3219 on my synology. i think this is a beta release? i think my strange values are due to trying to add the values by json, this results in adding it to the todays volume and not resetting the total count? furthermore the positioning of the tcrt5000 is critical in preventing false pulses and this is what is happening now with my meter i think... the small led light on the sensors blinks sometimes very weak when the wheel of the watermeter isn't even near the led....

  @Steve-Caster , yes it can be a power issue. Cheap phone chargers usually have high noise at its 5V output, for example. Arduino itself is more tolerant to it, however the nRF radio is very sensitive to power noise/oscillation. Sometimes just a capacitor between radio's VCC / GND helps. Have a look at the "Connecting a Decoupling-Capacitor" here

  What are you trying to archieve with this? What is the receiving end?   Hi there, I'm having another sketch problem.. In order to try and save battery power on my moisture sensors I'm trying to use a IO pin as power by setting it high for some time, let the sensor take a measurement, send the results to the gateway, setting the IO pin low again, let the node go to sleep for some time . This works only one time, the node presents itself to the gateway, sends data but after that it's not seen again after the expected sleep time. My guess is that somehow after puting the IO pin low it doesn't come back up in a high state. The strange thing is that when I measure the current on the pins of my moisture sensor with a multimeter the current goes from 0 to aprox 4.27V in the given time, so actually that indicates the pin is going from high to low as needed, but somehow the radio doesn't come back up...   I've done the above sudo rmmod w1_gpio, a couple reboots and at this moment it detects a unknown energie meter and isn't crashing So maybe some smart brains should have a look at this.....

  @mikee in the setup loop for the temp sensors you are also presenting the relay. So one time for each temp sensor.   Yes, sorry. Baud rate is indeed 115200 and not 115600. I'll have to check Domoticz to see if I can change those values. I would expect others to have the same problem if those were set incorrectly. I seem to be the only one.

  @kopite Use the Serial monitor on the pulse meter Arduino and check if any VAR messages are sent with status ok. (debug on = default). If so then you know that at least the Gateway (and therefore Domoticz) is receiving information. If so and the Pulse meter data is not receive you could try a Temp or Light sensor to test if that works. Happy debugging

  To summarize: I have the serial gateway now attached to the RaspberryPi which is running domoticz (Beta 2.2339) and it detected the humidity node right away. Both are compiled using the Master branch. I have 4.7uF capacitors between VCC and ground, but not sure if I actually need them. I just pulled them out and it still works flawlessly. Distance is only 20cm though since it is all on my desk. The arduinos I use are Buono UNO clones which have more amp output on the 3.3V rail (200ma). If I try to use the serial gateway from the dev branch, I need to do one fix to get it compiled: //MySigningNone signer; // Construct MySensors library MySensor gw(radio);//, signer); Otherwise it complains (Using MacOS Arduino 1.6.1). But running that code yields no results. The gateway receives (some) messages from the Humidity node but on the Humidity node all messages fail to get ACKs. I do not know why that is. As I said, I am completely new to mysensors, so I did not have time to look deeper into the code yet. Shall I open another thread in Troubleshooting? This is not really related to the Domiticz setup anymore...

  there isn't at the moment... no mysensors native support in domoticz, the developer see no need to do this at the moment. for not the faintest of heart there is my own experimental but that is mostly hardcoded to my own use... btw I don't know the behavior on a Synology, mine is ok on raspi, cubie and intel. https://github.com/empierre/arduino/blob/master/mysensors-gw1.4.pl
